A super sharp one, with a good tuned bow.

When I first started bowhunting with a 45-50# bow, I was using a Satelitte cut on contact head. I used the 100 grain ones, but did not put on the 2 additional blades. Killed 5 deer using this setup.

Just becuase your only pulling 50lbs doesn't mean that you have to shoot 85 grn heads. You should be able to move up into the 100 grn range and expand your options a great deal. That is unless your arrows are right on the edge of being spined properly. My first choices would be a magnus stinger or possibly the 85 grn slick trick. You can check out my website www.broadheadtests.com I have some tuning info along with a few articles on broadheads for low draw weight bows. The main thing is to make sure your bow is tuned well, and you put shots where they belong. At 50lbs of draw weight you main concern is going to be accuracy and penetration.

I was thinking the same thing. Why would you want to use such a light head if you are pulling 50#'s.

I'd recommend a weight set or maybe a gym membership.

do you want more speed or knock down power ?

With my 85gr I will get pass thrus... If I go heavier I won't get a pass through..

46lbs - axis 340's - 85 gr tip --- 22 yards shot my doe thru and thru.. What more would you need?

:eek::eek::eek:

Not real sure of your reasoning. Is that because your bow will be out of tune if you go with a heavier head?

Whem i was 12 my first bow(Martin Compound) was set at 40lbs. I was shooting 125 grain bear broadheads. I also used Satelite Titanstoo, all of these are cut on contact broadheads, not the bullet point stuff! I zinged right on through almost all me deer and bearwithout a problem. Just make sure there good and sharp.
