Go right ahead you can slip in without any sound and they will never know.

RE: Hunt in a Bad wind.
If my stand is not down wind of where I expect deer to be I willNOT hunt it that day.
I always have a number of stands set up for all possible wind directions. |
RE: Hunt in a Bad wind.
I will be hunting off the ground what do you think now? All my hunting clothes smell like fresh cutt grass

RE: Hunt in a Bad wind.
If you can position yourself downwind of where you expect to see deer then I say go for it.
If not I would wait for another day. |
RE: Hunt in a Bad wind.
I went for it and i had a deer grunting down wind of me. Man I wish he would have came in front of me. I have never been busted by a deer for scent. I guess rolling around in the dirt is good.

RE: Hunt in a Bad wind.
whats wrong with fresh cut grass? esp. if you are hunting close to hay fields?
|
RE: Hunt in a Bad wind.
How do yo hunt the wind when the deer may come from any different direction? Just wondering what some of you do.I do try to make the best guess as to which way they may approach, but sometimes I guess wrong can't always know where I hunt where they may come from because there are no specific bedding areas per say.

RE: Hunt in a Bad wind.
grass is fine around hay fields, and probably everywhere for that matter. but if your hunting woods, wouldn't fresh cut grassbe just another foreign scent that they may associate with danger. maybe im off base here.
scentfree is the way to go. even though it is impossible lol. |
RE: Hunt in a Bad wind.
well the scent is not forigien to them at all. Better then smelling like BO

Nice thing about a Lone Wolf hang-on standand stix is that you can change your stand site to huntalmost anywind. It's whyI love em!

RE: Hunt in a Bad wind.
I hunt in an area where you can't predict the wind. If it's light, forget it. It has to be a steady breeze before you can hunt wind. Do your best for scent control and it works if you take notes on what you did that day vs. yesterday. Experience helps in this situation.
