Deer Movement and Rain

What is the best stratagey for hunting deer while it is raining. Do they stay bedded, do they still feed along the same schedule, or do they wait for the rain to stop?

In my experiences I have had more positive hunts in the rain than negative. I would hunt as close to bedding areas that the storm fronts wind would allow....

Pay attention.... they will get on you in a hurry with the wet ground cover.

I agree.

It has been my experience that the deer move best just before and just after the rain. However if it is just misting or light rain get out there. I generally don't like to hunt in the rain, fear of losing a blood trail and all...plus I don't like to get wet, but once I did and saw deer that I knew were in the area, but never had seen during legal hunting hours. Good luck.

I agree with tricci357. I don't like to get wet either, but have heard the same things about lots of movement right before a front moves through. Something about when the barometer is dropping, you should be in the woods.

ive had some good luck hunting in the light rain but if it raining hard then you should go hunting after that or try to hunt right before it rains. ive killed lots of deer after it quit raining

I just hate to let my bow get wet. I still hunt in the rain, but I'll hang a treestand umbrella. I don't care if I get wet, but I gotta keep my baby dry!
