Marquis closeups...

Matt beat me to throwing up the pics while I was cooking a mess of crappie filets!! Don't think you're going to hear any complaining on my end... ;)

Speaking of no complaining... Holy cow!! I think this is the first time I've pulled a bow out of the box, set it up and been "wowed" so quickly... The Diamond Marquis is really reminiscent of the single cam Patriot. The draw stacks SO nicely, building to a very smooth crescendo and peaking right before falling gently into the valley. It holds extremely stable at full draw, which is directly attributable to its long riser and very short parallel limbs which dip well beyond parallel at full draw.

The shot recoil is virtuallynon-existant,with the bow tipping gently forward afteroutfitting it with a6" Stealth in matching Hardwoods HD. Here's some more pics for your enjoyment... :)

Guess which bow will bewith me in my treestand tomorrow night? [:-]

I hope it shoots for me, assweet as it looks! If so, I am so getting a Marquis!!I've always been a single cam kind of guy!

Greg, it looks as if you have serving built up on the inside of your loop! Please explain! To stop the loop from moving, or pinching the knock?

I bought my Mathews 2 years ago and I have loved it so far. I shot both the Tribute and Allegiance before I bought a Switchback, and they just didn't feel quite right.

This offseason I almost went out and shot the new Gaurdians, but never got a chance. I have made up my mind though that this year I am definantly going to go out and throw the General up with the Drenalin if I decide to get a new toy.

Greg, I like your choice of sights for the new bow. I love my extreme sight. It has the brightest pins I have found. I think I could honestly hunt by moon light.

vikesfan, I wrote an instructional thread over the summer about how I tie my nocksets in as well as my D-loops... Unfortunately, threads like this don't always stay on the front page and slip into oblivion sometimes. I was asked one time to make some of my instructional threads "stickies" and maybe one of these days we can do something like that. In the meantime, I ran a search and found it for you: http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=2185934&mpage=1&key=instructiona l%2ctying%2cloop&#2185934

John, I'm a big fan of this site as well -- as evidenced that I own a black one, a Hardwoods HD one and I've got a Hardwoods Green set aside for my General.

We have had trouble out of the RT900 and 1000's this year. The fibers like pulling through the pins, some of the screws weren't threading, alot of our customers haven't been so pleased with the Extreme's

That's not an NAP... it's a Diamond Hostage. :)It loads easily, and allows the feathers to pass thru unharmed without any drag. I've just been shooting it over the weekend after putting it on this bow Friday, but so far so good.

I am not on their pro staff, nor do I have anyconnections with Extreme... but that's the first I've ever heard of that. If the fibers are pulling back through the pins, it's a simple matter of mushrooming the tip out by holding a lighter near the end... I snapped a fiber in Colorado (my fault for letting the bow hang by my side as I walked through some brush) and I pushed the remaining fiber through, threaded it through the pin and melted the tip into a mushroom back at camp during mid-day. Good as new, and it's still the same way right now. In fact, it's the sight pictured up above, because that's the one that was on my Allegiance before I sold it last week.

Like I said, I currently own three of them, and am actually thinking of selling my Spot Hogg Hunter Hogg It (generally considered to be theRolls Royce ofhunting sights)because once I get these sighted in, they perform as well as I could ask of them.

I do own an NAP rest, if it makes you feel any better... a Quicktune 3000 I bought a couple years ago when I needed a quick rest to slap on a bow for testing.

Jeff, I didn't gloss over your question; I just have no idea yet. I made some dealer visits last week, but no one had them in yet. I think I got the first one in a multi-state region so far around here... :)

I'm tellin' ya: If you're a fan of smooth-drawing, stable-holding, hard-hitting single cams... this bow is screaming for you to give it a test run!! :D

CanI get a shipping quote? [8D] Looks good! Can't wait to shoot one myself.

Tim,

I don't see shipping charges either... [8D]:D

But I do see this bow being in the treestand with me for the rest of the year... Or at least until my Airborne 82nd comes in! ;)

Nice Greg. I am just itchin' for mine to show up any day now. I cannot wait to set it up and take a few shots with it. The ol' single cam Patriot was one of my favorite single cam bows.

RE: Marquis closeups...

Yeah, Frank, I started to write it in the orginal post... but it was the single cam Patriot that turned me forever towards Bowtech... that was one solid bow, and I'm glad to have something back in the lineup reminscent of it.

lol, that line is enough to sell me on the Marquis. My first Bowtech was a 2003 Patriot and I absolutely loved that bow.

RE: Marquis closeups...

Greg,

Here is an idea...though the Patriot SC and the Marquis share some similarities in terms of design and overall feel...why don't you explain some of the key differences as well? I, for one, would love to hear more about the new bow.

Great looking bow, but I think I'll keep my Patriot or at the least my son will have it.;)

RE: Marquis closeups...

Seems to me I read the Marquis has an almost 35" ATA whereas the Patriot had 33" only so its slightly longer. I think the brace is similar for them though. I would love to see a true side by side test with chrono tests. I think this Diamond will sell like hot cakes. I know its what I would be grabbing if in the market this year but my 07 Allegiance hasn't lost its appeal yet.

Greg / MO 10-17-2007 03:59 PM

RE: Marquis closeups...

Frank, not a bad idea... I'll have to dig into the archives, as I obviously don't have access to a Patriot SC anymore..

I'll tell you this: I had a doe last night wish I didn't have access to the Marquis yet either! ;)

Droptine,

You may want to go back and read the first of the thread where I pointed out to someone else (I won't mention any names, mobowhntr... :)) that it's not a Biscuit; it's a Diamond Hostage. Trust me... the Hostage will be as accurate as you need it to be... ;)

Thanks for the info Greg, I have one on its way, or so I hope. I am doing a write up with my Mathews Drenalin in a head to head comparison, should be a joy, only problem is, I am not sure which one will want to go to the stand...[:@]
