This photo was taken off my property and blackwolf2626 posted it this morning. It was taken in JoDavies County, Illinois on a Buckeye Camera System. We have not checked the cameras since early September. A neighbor reported seeing a large black cat earlier this summer on two different occasions - he seemed to think he was seeing a black panther or black phase large cat. Here is a zoomed in version of the same photo. Still not sure what it is??? We don't have any resident dogs that look like this, not to say it couldn't be a free rooming wild dog. Check out the tail?? But then again the legs seem long. Hopefully we will get another picture on the cameras. We googled black cats, Illinois and several stories came up of mysterious black large cats. Lets get one thing straight, I'm not saying this is anything yet, it is just strange.

its a mountain lion, i have some on film too. where i live they are having such a bad time with yotes the game commission brought in 8 mountain lions, its kinda scary and i hate walking through the woods in the morning but i assure you its a cat, the tail sways, the chest is built, the rear legs are long, and you can kinda see the whiskers. it has a broad face and ...
