PISS ON IT?
 

I took an 8 point friday evening. 16'' wide. Nice deer for the bow. I urinated out the tree stand 3 times. This buck walked right up to where i peeed at,smelled it and licked the limb above it. never once did he act alarmed or spooked. Has anybody else got any stories like this?

Well, I used to be a "urine bottler" a few years back, now I just let it fly.:) I've killed several deer out of stands that I'd peed from. Doesn't seem to bother them a bit.

no this will be my second 3rd time hunting so ill piss at the bottom and see what happens for ya.

I pee out of the tree and have done so for 18 years now. I see plenty of deer right under me, many in the spot I peed on. In fact, just this year I had an old doe walk though my pee and spook after sniffing my tree stand strap under the tree (needless to say that goes up the tree with me now.)

ive seen deer more intrigued by human urine then scared of it.... wanna come and investigate who's leakin in their teritory..

kinda like how i come out to my truck after every hunt, and the same damn chocolate lab pisses onall four of my 35" tires.. b.c i leak on them before every hunt...

I used to do the the piss bottle for years. Then forgot to bring one with me one time and havent bothered since. The deer dont seem to mind. The does don't even get on me about leaving the seat up!

When I pee in the woods, I always scape away a bare spot with a stick and pee in it. I try to make it look like a scrape. I don't know if it works or not.

I used to hold it but now I just lean back in my seat and piss all over myself........cover scent perhaps and I save money!:D

i got down the other day to walk about 50 yards to a trail to piss on it. The deer like that trail and thought it might make themcome down mine

well on the way down holding my bh tips arrow i cut my finger bad enough i had for the er there went 8 more hunting hours

atleast i know my bhs are sharp cut right through like meltedbutter . Funny thing is when i got a mile from the er the dang thing quit gushing. so i went home after droping my blood all through the woods. but it is going to rain tuesday so it will be goin

Believe it or not I had to take a dump real bad so I climbed down and took care of business right at the base of my treestand. I had a nice little 8 point walk right under my stand, it didnt spook at all and almost stepped in it!

I will say every deer is different, that area was low hunting pressure and a heavily used public forest

Urine is urine and from the study I saw deer visited scrapes soaked with human urine and buck urine with the same frequency. They did so on these scrapes more than the ones soaked with doe and new car smell...that's right new car smell and they visited them the same frequency as the doe ones....what I learned, in scrapes I'd use buck urine and not doe urine and I wouldn't hesitate to urinate in a scrape. I don't however do it out of a tree....

Similiar, our gender has no bearing either I'd imagine, again, they cannot differentiate human to buck, unlike doe to buck specifically estrous doe. I cannot nor will comment on specific time periods out of respect and privacy.

Better watch..public urination is a crime. That would make for some funny field notes in the PGC Game news: "Richard Bodenhorn WCO Elk County, cited Jack Frost ofHighland TWP for public urination. The perp subjected the officer to a lengthy lesson in hunting tactics, trying to explain away his fine. The officer wasn't buying it."

I've been telling this story for years on here... I've read the same study Rob cited above, and have years and years of experience peeing in the woods out of multiple sets and have enough record-book bucks on the wall to laugh off the "urine-bottle theory" as nothing more than a fallacy.

I actually crack up these days any time I hear someone relate about how much trouble they've went through to bottle their own urine on a hunt... [8D]

Let it fly. It has ZERO effect on the deer IMO. I've shot or had deer around my standafter taking a leak, before taking a leak, and while taking a leak. It just doesn't matter. They can't associate the urine as human (predator).
