Any ideas on what happened to this doe???
I saw this doe tonight and she looked to be healed up good despite the fact that she does not have the use of her back left leg. These trail cam pics were taken about 2 months ago. At the time of the pics I thought she looked pretty sick and didn't expect her to make it. This evening she had a fawn with herand I watched them feed for 5-10 mins. Any idea of what could of happpened to her. In addition to the leg,it looks like she may have something wrapped around her in a few of the pics. I had made the decision tonight to take her if she offered the shot. However, she didn't. What would you guys do. As I mentioned earlier, she looked to be healed up, despite the limp from not having the use of one leg.

Looks like she has something wrapped around her leg, just above her foot. Maybe a wire or something, maybe she got caught in a poorly set snare, or in a fence, not sure.
As for the question of what is on her. If you don't know what is on her back, and neck, I have one question for you. Have you ever set foot in the woods before?

I would say she has CWD,but it looks like she got caught up in a hay rake while laying down in a hay field and the rake hit her in the back end and some of the metel tines broke off in her back....
I would take her down so she woudnt have to suffer anymore....

In my opinion, she got her leg caught in a fence and broke it.
Now her body is using all of it's resources to fight the infection leading to the skinniness and the delayed change over to her winter coat.

you say that these pictures are a few months old?if is so how does she look now in relation to then.... if shes better let her go if shes worse then let the arrow go....nature has a way of taking care of its own....of course if she is in obvious pain then i would shoot her .. but if it just uncofortable for you to see and she is taking care of herself then let her go.... appentaly she raised a fawn even with a bum rear end...
having said all that, you are on the sceen with more valuable info so i would say its your call...
