The bucks lost their velvet some time ago. The rut is when the bucks and does become sexually active. Here in the midwest the rut is usually the 2nd week in November (has some to do with the temperatures). Everyone who is experienced that I have talked to this year believe the rut will be a week or two early here.

Right around the same time it was last year. Get in the woods early and often and the deer will let you know. For some reason I have November 3rd to the 12th off, Sure beats a beach!
