Shot window

Has anyone done any real testing with arrow rise and fall.

I mean if you had a 20 yd shot at a target..and a laser beam was emitted from the tip of the point (of the arrow at rest)..how far above that line would the arrow go when at it's apex?

30 yard shot??

In hunting situations I'm thinking of the untrimmed window..how much clearance does one need?

oh sorry for conversation sake, say a bow shooting 280 fps. yes i know arrow weight and other variables come into play.. but there has to be a generic #.

I look at it this way GR8 and there is no science here however, at 20 yards I'm dead on. At ten yards I'm an inch high so I know that 10 yards away from me or half way to the target I am an inch high.....

At 30 yards, if I'm at full draw and I'm looking down the range through a window, my 20 yard pin must have a clear path to the animal at 20 yards and at least an inch at 10 yards. I've experimented with this in my backyard and I've been successful.

What some seem to forget when looking down range in the woods is where are your other pins as far as obsticles.

Thats the logic I used as well..(I'm in a e-mail discussion with my cuz..and it's taking on GMMAT V Hazcon type porportions)

Wow great thinking there..never thought of that..of course I shoot a 1 pin adjsustable site so I wouldn't think of that!

At one time I had a bow that shot 275 fps. I shot the bow at 10, 20 and 30 yds with my 20 yd pin. Then 20, 30 and 40 yds with my 30 yd pin. Then 30, 40 and 50 yds with my 40 yd pin. I recorded the data in + or - inches and came up with a range in yards for each of my pins. If I remember right, the pin with the largest range was my 30 yard pin. I'll have to look around and see if I can find that sheet then get back to you. I think that the 30 yd pins range was from 25 to 34 yds to stay in a 4" circle. I'll check.

One of the thing you MUST consider in this case as well is how far above the arrow your line of sight is. That tosses a big wrench in the works when trying to shoot through an opening. Especiallyif the opening is closer to you than the target.
