Rut Question
 

The next weekend that i can make it out to hunt will be the weekend of Oct 19,20 and 21. This will be 7 days prior to the first full moon which i believe is the "rutting moon". what phase of the rut will the weekend ill be hunting considered and what will work best in the way of calls and scents.If my understanding of the rutting moon is wrong let me know also.

I'm in WI, and the "chasing" phase should be starting around that time frame with "pre-rut" being around the last week/first week of November the rut should be hitting early Nov...but thats just my area, yours could be different!

Sold on the moon idea huh? Well, then I can't help you.;)

Honestly, that weekend will probably find some bucks crusing around searching for does, makingscrapes, but not in the real swing of things yet. Perhaps a few does that are just starting and being hounded by every buck in a 3 miles radius. If you are lucky enough to find the first doe starting into heat, then you will be money but that is pretty early. Best of luck!

seeking/chasing i believe. probably not too early to sprinkle a little estrous out if you desire. could scare away does though, and that's what you want around. i'd be in a doe bedding area waiting for a buck to "cruise"through.
