RE: to big for a safty harness what should i do
ORIGINAL: GR8atta2d I would bet most safety harness's have a minimum of a 2X safety factor built in to the rating. The safest thing is a ground blind. But my buddy is over 300 and he hunts from a 2 man ladder stand just fine. I would rather wear a harness that exceeds its rating than not wear one at all. And a safety belt is probably more dangerous than nothing IMO. |

That's not what I meant. I've nearly taken the backward spill climbing into my ladder stand while it was raining before, it isn't a good feeling. What I was saying is that I don't feel safe standing up to shoot the bow without a harness on. Any time I'm on the stand with the bow I wear my harness, standing is the point that you're most likely to fall and most can't shoot a bow in a sitting position from a tree. I do feel safe with the shotgun because I don't have to stand up at any time other than climbing in or out because I can use the gun from a sitting position. As I said, the only times I'm not sitting are climbing in and out and the harness can't be used to climb into or out of the stand.
My point with the hanging from the harness was that you're in a position to have something to grab onto to help pull yourself up or at least hold you. Hangin 12ft off the ground from a tree with no limbs because you fell out of a climber is different. With a ladder stand you at least have the ladder to grab and use to take the harness pressure off. |

Beezer
Sorry. I misunderstood what you were saying. I've heard guys talk about how they think they could just grab onto something if they felt like they were falling. Big Mistake Be Safe, good luck hunting thi year. |

I weight 300lb at 6'4" tall. I hunt in a tree all the time but if I get bigger(I hope not), I'll be a ground sittin fool. I don't feel like dying any time soon.
