The arc is just a result of gravity.That is why when you shoot up a hill on a 45 deg angle,you shoot the shot the distance the target would be straight out from you instead of what it would range on the angle.
Gravity only affects the arrow for the time it is in the air and gravity doesn't see angles up hill or downhill.It just pulls STRAIGHT down on the arrow on its actuall horizontal path.
Hope this makes sense.

No. The arrow still arc's the same. The difference is the paradox. An arrow shot from a release oscilates up/down, fingers oscillates right/left.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I believe that for a straight down shot, you use the lowest pin you have, because it's the one closest to the arrow, yes?

I explain in the previous post.
There is an actuall paradox adjustment that is made on uphill and downhill shots but it is so slight that it isn't worth worrying about.I believe the new laser range finders that have arc technology adjust for this but from normal bow stand heights,it is completely irrelevant.Now for mountain hunting,I would have one of those rangefinders myself.

If you shoot 20 yds......from 20' up......don't you eliminate MUCH of the "arch"?
Reason I say this is......if your goal is to have your BH replace the spot on the deer wher eyour pin is (in this instance......your 20yd pin)......would the arrow correct itself and be pointing straight away from you on THIS shot.
I have NO problems seeing my arrows in flight on 20 and 30yd horizontal shots. Put me in an elevated perch, though.....and I find it .....well.....I don't find it.
