I personally like a good stew next to backstraps, but I haven't tasted fresh stuff in a while:(

The tender loins or as us farmers and rednecks down home call'em the "fish"
But better than backstraps are filets! That's the underside backstrap for those that don't know.;)

In a Porterhouse T-bone steak the large part is the backstrap, the smaller the filet. Opposite sides of the backbone. :D The filet is always better.

What I'm thinking of is calorie free & has no closed season And always keeps that smile on sweeties face. ;)

Next to backstraps I would go with fresh walleye or crappie. Or an elk steak.

LMAO!!! That is a great "meal"

You may be wrong about the closed season though, I know of an instance where one my not want to "scout"
