Default Poundage?

This friday is going to be my first time bowhunting. Im pumped and cant wait. Just 1 question, my drawback on my bow is set at 45lbs. Some people are telling me this will kill a deer and some people are telling me I have no chance at it. What do you guys think? Any other tips are helpful. Thanks

I killed my first deer with 45 pounds of pull. Hit them where you are supposed to and keep your shots to 25 yards or under and you will be in business. Go get one!!!

Law is 40 here and I know they wouldnt make it that low unless it is lethal. Just make sure and get some practice in and dont shoot past 25 yards. Good luck with your first hunt.... but be carefull.... its addicting!!!!

You poundage should be fine for whitetails and if you want maximum performance shoot a COC broadhead, like magnus or steel force.

I used a recurve at that draw weight back in the 60's and it worked fine. I don't think deer have gotten any tougher since; and if your bow is a modern compound the arrow speed will be even better yet.

Your poundage is fine.........

- Keep your shots to Boadside shots with a 20 to 25 yard max.
- Cut on Contact braodheads are important. Steelforce, Bear Razorheads(for the old timers) HA, Ha!

Good Luck!
