Someone stole my bow!!!

My bow was stolen right outta my garage!!! I am filing a police report!!! Do you think that homeowners insurance covers something like that?

RE: Someone stole my bow!!!

LOL if you have theft insurence it will. Buy a new bow and get over it.

txjourneyman 10-08-2007 10:41 AM

RE: Someone stole my bow!!!

That sucks. I know my homeowners would cover it but I'd have to pay the deductible.

I don't get this post at all! LOL? You think its funny that another hunter had equipment stolen? Have you ever beenthe victim of a thief? If so I don't think you'd be laughing! And getting over it much easier said than done!

HNI Jim... Listen, I know you're only 14 or so, but some of your posts are pretty rude to say the least. This is not the atmosphere we have so long striven to create around here, and it will not be tolerated. Just a warning.

Hmmm, this post got me thinking. Better update my homeowners insurance! Sorry to hear about your loss, it sucks that there are so many thieves out there. Some people are just too lazy to work for thier own stuff.

RE: Someone stole my bow!!!

Sorry to hear that. I keep my bow in the garage all the time, along with all my other hunting stuff. Maybe I should think twice about that.

man thats terrible. i fear that terribly...mostly when im at school and my GMC Jimmy is my mobile hunting or fishing camp. hunting season i keep everything but the bow in there...stand..pack...all the clothes i may need(atleast 2 sets of scentlock and a set of predator..) id really be up a creek...the bow gets locked up at the police station....i dont even trust THEM lol...i am the only one that locks my cases when i put my guns or bow there. they have a closet for us to keep our weapons..i dont want ANYONE touching my bow...even if they are just curious and looking at it..

mom wonders why i dont keep my stuff in the shed we have...if someone comes in and gets my gear out of the shed im gunna be upset...

hope your insurance covers it...

i will never understand theives...we need to start choppin hands off like they do in other countries...you do it more than twice...well..thieves have feet:D

Sorry to hear about it. I would guess it was someone from your area or at least someone who knew the bow was there. I would put up a reward for info that leads to the arrest of the punk.

RE: Someone stole my bow!!!

sorry to hear about your bow. my bow sits in plain sight in my garage. not any more. my deductible is $500 and I paid $450 for my bow, but I'm emotionally attached to that sucker. When I get a new bow next year my q2 is staying with me!

Pops423 10-08-2007 11:50 AM

RE: Someone stole my bow!!!

Wow, that's tough to hear. Any other friends/family who could help out. You never know, there might be a member from around your area willing to help out. That's what this board has become, (at least for the most part) a big family of some of the best hunting friends you could ask for.

RE: Someone stole my bow!!!

Sorry to hear that some low life stole your bow. Don't bother with insurance. You likely have a high deductible and even if you get a coupe of bucks from them you'll be giving it back in higher premiums.

Man that is terrible, Thats why I keep mine inside it doesnt matter were you live I guess anybody will steal from anybody that is terrible. I hate thieves more than anybody in the world. Sorry about your luck. And I not HNIJIM's post earlier does that sort of stuff happen on here alot b/c that happens all the time on ArcheryTalk I got away from there to get away from thread bashing. RE: Someone stole my bow!!!

man that sucks. like another poster said, keep an eye on the pawn shops. there was another thread a couple of weeks ago where the same thing happened and he recovered his bow from the police a couple days later. maybe luck will be on your side. i know how awful it feels to have something that you've put all that time and effort into stolen by some scumbag. good luck

If you have one in your area, look for second hand sports stores. We have had the same problems in this area before and that's usually where tree standsend up. When I hunted private land, we carved our license number into the stand just in case we needed to id our stands. They couldn't have picked a worst time of year. Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

RE: Someone stole my bow!!!

1. File the police report.
2. File a claim with your homeowners insurance.
3. Check the local pawn shops. Just tell the pawn shop people that you want the make and model of the one stolen. Do not tell them your's was stolen. If it shows up, notify the police, again without letting the pawn shop people know it's yours and it was stolen.
4. Check ebay with the modification to only show results within 100 miles of your home zipcode. If it shows up and you know for sure it's yours, contact the police.
5. Keep repeating steps 3 and 4.
6. If after a reasonable period you do not have results, purchase a new one (hard to do) and keep it locked up inside the home. A garage is a higher target of opportunity for persons inclined to commit crimes, because the average person does not have an alarm system in their garage. You'd be suprised how many people don't even lock their garages.
Follow these steps and there is a high probability it will showup soon.

I have been a military criminal intelligence analyst for many years and have seen many incidents like this.

Just another hunter offering condolances. That really sucks. Sometimes it is hard to find redeaming qualities in society. I think in general most people are good but it only takes a few bad eggs. Call your insurance company and pray they'll cover at least most of it.:(

HNIJIM..... What is up with that post??? Seroisly you are probably one of those theifs that steals treestands in the woods. Look man sorry to hear about your stolen bow. Im also sorry about the remarks of some people on here! Hope you get it back!

RE: Someone stole my bow!!!

We dont need folks like HNIJim on here. Of course though he is only 14 and hasnt learned the value of things yet. Once something of his gets stolen, Im sure hell understand. My condolences go out to you. Ive been fortunate enough not to have any stands, cams, or bows stolen. I wish I had one that I could give you but I dont. Just keep an eye out at the pawn shops, etc.

Man that stinks. I agree just watch the local pawn shops and maybe the want ads in local papers and it may show up. As for HNIJim I think the wrath of the HNI staff will come down and bite him in his arse for such a ignorant post. At least it should. Ya see his daddy probably bought him his bow and he has no idea the value of a dollar cause everthing gets handed to him on a silver platter. Wait till he has to work for what he wants and with a attitude like he has McDonalds isn't gonna pay him enough to buy to good bow!!!

RE: Someone stole my bow!!!

Once you pay the deductible you probably won't get anything but a mark on your record for having a claim which will mean higher insurance rates eventually.
