I was in the infantry long enough to know you always keep someone on guard duty while the others are sleeping... hunting dangerous game like this is no different... this was completely preventable imho... but ya, it sucks big time... bet they take a different route next time...

OUCH. That hurts to just look at.
It looks to be all true except for someone else shooting it...and of course the ankle pic as nyorange pointed out.

RE: Polar Bear Attack
When I first saw the ankle picit threw up a red flag because no bear or animal could've done that kind of damage. Glad someone pointed it out and cleared it up or I'd've called BS.
OT- the link is a perfect example of how people re-mix everything into something different. At the top of the page it says a guy was attacked in his sleep then managed to get the bear off him then shoot it. At the bottom of the page, he ran, tripped over a rock, was pounced on,then a fellow camper shot the bear.
[bad joke]I've heard of gettin' away "by the skin of your teeth" but never the skin of your head.[/bad joke]

RE: Bear Attack
That last ankle picture made me hike my nuts up...... Lord it looks like he shot himself in the ankle before letting the bear have it....dude must have one hard head to take a mauling like that and not end up with a tooth in the brain.
