Do you carry a Handgun while Bowhunting ?
I always carry a handgun for personal protection when I'm Bowhunting.
I don't carry it to defend myslf against any animals either. It's for the two legged Predators. A couple of my friends have had guns pointed at them in the past and had their deer taken from them. That's the reason I carry a 45 auto along with me each time I go to the woods. Anyone else pack a handgun along while Bowhunting ? Just curious. Sag. |

Yea I do also. I carry a Glock Model 27 40 caliber. I hunt on public land and I am always ready for anything. When you are in the middle of no where and your cell phone doesn't get a signal you have to be ready. My brother carries one as well. I have never had to use mine.
This past year a pack of wild dogs invaded our peacefulness and my brother nailed one of them that came under his stand. JJ One shot one kill. |

It's illegal in WY. But when I elk hunt in grizz country, somehow the 454 Casull ends up in my pack. Not going to risk my life (remote risk I will admit) because of some law (which actually violates my 2nd amendment rights) that was put in place as an additional law for when a poacher is caught during bow season (as admitted to by our local game and fish biologist).

No. It is illegal here in KY. If it wasn't, I wouldn't go into the field without it.

wish i could it is almost illegal to even look at a handgun here in new york we even need a license for long guns thanks to your save the world don't blame the product of their enviroment poor under privileged souls who pull the trigger or use these weapons in a crime but curse and blame every law abiding citizen who wishes to own one groups
sorry for the outburst but you hit a nerve there |
RE: Do you carry a Handgun while Bowhunting ?
I just picked up bow hunting and I think its a blast. I am too young to own a handgun, but I wouldn't carry one into the field anyway. And as Rob said, it's also illegal here in PA. In my area, I don't feel there is a need to carry a handgun while bowhunting anyway. If I lived in grizzly country and if I was old enough, there would definatley be a .454 Casull at my side. An arrow wont stop a charging bear, but a 300 grain bullet might <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> You said guys steal deer, where do you live? Stealing deer, how lazy (and unlawful) can some people get?
