Acorn question....

I hunt southwest Wisconsin and have a stand set up near a huge old oak tree. Does anyone have an opinion about when the acorns begin to fall andl stop falling(on average)? Can you list some date ranges tied to oak types?

Thanks.

pin oak already dropped all it had here in southeast iowa. guess im hunting the corn field now cuz no deer are traveling anywhere near the oaks as of now. later in the season after corn is picked maybe.

I'm in NC and now is when they drop, they are through before all the leaves fall, if you aren't seeing any that oak might not have them this year...

RE: Acorn question....

I've killed 2 doe so far this season under this hugewhite oak.Acorn drop was very heavy this year. There are two of these giant white oaks and they only drop acorns every third year. They are still dropping a few, but most are on the ground. These trees are 150-200 years old. I love these trees!
Acorn drop is tree specific, so all oaks in an area don't drop the same amount or at the same exact time. Some of thered oaks had good acorns as well this year.
