I field dress my deer a little different then everyone else. My knife never touches the guts. In 30 minutes I have the backstraps, front shoulders and the hind quarters.

Just need a sharp knife and a steady hand.. ;)

Just watched the online video and it seems to pretty thorough. I will probably order it because my 13 year old daughter wants to get into bow hunting next season. :D

I'd also recommend a Sagen Hunter's Field Saw, or Gerber E-Z Saw. Besides a knife, I also have a gut hook.

Being a beginner myself, I thought messing with the anus like most of the instructions suggest,... was difficult for me.

I use the saw to cut the pelvic bone, and may have to step on it to split it. Then when you pull the guts out of the rear, you can just cut the anus out, from the inside-out of the deer.

Before I was ever faced with this task.....I thought it best to know what I was doing before I actually had to do it. I contacted a friend and he invited me over to his farm/lease for the opener of ML season. We field dressed and butchered 14 deer, that day/evening.

If someone lived near me....and wanted to learn....I'd feel honored to show them. I'm betting anyone in these forums (or by you) feels the same way.

Just a thought.
