I read on a whitetail website that the average US bowhunter scores every 20th bowHUNT. Interesting......

You gotta think about bowhunters as a WHOLE.....not just die-hard guys like in this forum. As a WHOLE.....I don't have a hard time believing it. I was reading on another forum where a guy took a shot at his first whitetail in FOUR YEARS (and he wasn't successful in taking that deer).

I believe it....but it's still "interesting".

I know for me personally, I usually average 12-15 hours in a stand before seeing a shooter or takeing one. My hunts are limited to after work or my days off, so I usually average about 4 hours a trip on stand. Just my stats from old journals i have kept.

Haha. Wait.. do the days carry over from the last season or start fresh with each bow year? If they carry over, I should be due a deer this Saturday for my first time out this season.

Last year....I "averaged" a kill just over every 9 hunts. So far, this year.....it's just under every 7. Who knows where it'll end up? I certainly don't count on anything.

I usually run that satistic up. If I start the begining of Oct and I usually kill my deer the first two weeks of Nov I'm hunting at least 25 to 30 days. Of course that is buck only and only allowed 1. I hunt 6 days a week, rarely missing a day...

Now we don't know if that statistic is in hours....or if it's just counting as a day if you only spend an hour in the field.

Then I'm really runing it up even more. Is hunting in the morning and then going back and hunting the evening 2 hunts? That could double mine...lol[8D]

I would assume it was, Rob. I count it as 2 hunts.....because I could be hunting two properties (usually do).

It's not far-fetched.

Sounds like a reasonable number. But, I wonder how the heck anyone can even come up with a stat like that. Whoare they polling? What about the thousands of bowhunters not being accounted for in that stat? It would be an interesting stat to see if EVERY bowhunter was accounted for. Seems like a shot in the dark number to me.

In our area if you are including doe's that number would be way high.Any legal buck it would still be high.A 21/2 year old buck or older it would be about right to perhaps being low.

They apparently haven't interviewed me...I hunted for 8 years before I scored on a deer. Definately, like the 400th day out I finally killed a deer.

My friends and i have definately helped that statistic in getting up to 20 hunts...we all have yet to shoot a deer...they have shot at deer, and i am too damn picky with my shots

Interesting, I'm going to check my logs

OK last three years bowhunting stats.
31 hunts- 3 deer(and I saved a tag for gun season)

26 hunts- 4 deer

23 hunts- 5 deer

I'm hunting too much this season. Been out 9 times, with only 1 deer down:eek:

Good, Im about due then. Been out 11 days.I did take a Doe on the first day but Im hunting for horns now. Its been in the 90s the last 8 days, full moon, has led to very little buck sighting the last 10 days. Hopefully this front will change things for the better.

Our friend went 16 years without killing a deer. He shot at them, but stupid things like hiting grapevines or somthing always seemed to be the ending to his stories. 16 years and he still hunted every year. I have more respect for someone who doesnt give up for 16 years than i do for someone who easliy shoots 10 in a season.

That's fitting, I'm well below average. And I thought I'd hit rock bottom....I get to feel even more like crap. [:@]
