Buckmasters?
 

As I was going through all of the articles of aBuckmasters magazineI noticed that when talking about a deer's rack, they were using the terms "P1 and P2 and P3" in regards toa deer'stines.

Now, up to this point in my hunting career,everything that I've heard, read and seen has always been "G1, G2 and G3's". What is this P1 and P2 business all about?

Is this a different scoring system their refering to or a type-O.

Could someone shed some light on this one for me.

Buckmasters has they're own scoring system and they refer to points as p instead of g.

Exactly, they developed their own scoring system, the Buckmasters scoring system. If I'm not mistaken and someone correct me, it's identical to P&Y Gross score...no deductions giving the buck credit for all antler growth. It's called the Buckmasters scoring system.

Ah the power of the internet, instead of asking a question, why not look it up so I did. :

The philosophy of Buckmasters' new Full-Credit Scoring System is to measure and record whitetail deer antlers without forcing them to conform to a criterion of perfect symmetry. This Full-Credit Scoring System takes nothing away from the rack. It simply measures every inch of antler and classifies it accordingly. The Buckmasters system can be distinguished from other whitetail scoring systems in these nine important areas:

They dont let you add in the inside spread as that 'is not antler'. thats why their entry minimum is lower.

P1 is the same as G1, P stands for point. C1 is the same as H1, C stands for
circumference. There are no deductions, do not score the inside spread,score just the antler it grows. There are four categories Perfect, up to 1 percent irregular with the same amount of points on each side,Typical, 1.1-5.5 percent irregular, Semi-Irregular 5.6-10 percent irregular, Irregular, more than 10 percent irregular.What ispercent irregular, say you have a ten point and he has two irregular points that total 3 6/8 and he scores 116 3/8 you would take 3 6/8 and divide by 116 3/8 and hit your percentage button and you would have 3.2 % irregular, he would be a typical rack.
