RE: Pennsylvania Bow Season
Can't wait until Saturday (PA 1st. day archery). Bought a "NEW" Mathews Switchback XT in July and have been shooting every week since. Scouted with trail cams and have gotten some pretty good pics of a couple nice bucks. Just above me (SW Penn.) alot of deer were dying a few weeks back from EHD ( so the game commision says) but hasn't affected our herd at all. Wish the weather would start dropping, entirely too darn hot for this time of year. Saturdays forecast for my area is calling for highs in the mid 70's and low's Friday night around 55. I hate to say it but I'll probably be hunting in a T-shirt...........HOT WEATHER BLOWS! Good luck to all, be safe and shoot straight.

RE: Pennsylvania Bow Season
you guys that say its too hot are off your rockers!
look at the averages...i am right now and average high is about 70 and the average low is about 48. right now those numbers are dead on with what they are callin for for my area... yes it ain 40 or 50....but it certainly aint HOT for this time of year or hot in general. i hunted last saturday and it was 85. hot walking to the stand..YES. hot walking out YES...but sitting there in the stand i was comfortable. glad i didnt bother bringing my jacket. but i will have it saturday. funny on a PA forum alot of guys said they arent even hunting because its "too hot" to each their own....just one less guy in the woods :D last year was TOO HOT. heck most of the days all i wore was a button down shirt and t-shirt under it with just regular pants. the 15th it was 60 and i had my jacket on all day and spent the morning and late evening shivering. i dont recall being cold last bow season. we can only wish for collllld temps to come quickly. id love to see 40 or 50 by the end of october...guess what...that averages are still 57 high and 37 low for my area on Halloween lol....guess last year was probably only a touch warm or about average.... good luck out there guys...be safe and wear your harness....i will be back on here by 8am saturday with my first bowkill....a big ole buck to boot...(you guys tell me i gotta be confident right??) :D make sure to "take pics your proud of" and "only shoot what makes you happy";) and then come here and post the pics and tell us the story!! |
RE: Pennsylvania Bow Season
Very much in agreement with the mauser06 man. It's never been real cold the first day. I am happy that in central PA it will be the coolest morning in a week. Low 60s for a high, sounds good enough for me. Didn't sweat all summer on food plots, sight in a new bow, and hang treestands with the bugs two months ago not to head out and enjoy myself. Good luck to all, stay safe.

RE: Pennsylvania Bow Season
I live in southeastern PA, but I'm originally from southwestern PA. I'll be heading up to the cabin in Somerset for the opener.
Mauser, I agree. I've been getting out since the opener in NJ (Sept. 8). It was 92 with 85% humidity. That was HOT. I was sweating just sitting in the stand. Felt like I was hunting in FL or GA again. Yuk.[:'(] |
