Fair Chase Hunting
When I buy a hunting video and see all these monster deer killed, it makes me wonder how many are hunting in fences? I was wondering if any of you guys knew which videos were 100% fair chase? And for curiosity, which known videos arent fair chase? Thanks

RE: Fair Chase Hunting
Primos, Drury, Getting Close, and Road Trips are all fair chase from what I have seen and researched. The NUDGE hunts fenced critters on his property in texas, but that is his right, there are many others. Anytime you see exotics in the states, they are fenced. Some say it is still fair chase when they have thousands of acres that are high fenced. You gotta do what is right for you, but remember, antis are always waiting for an excuse. Sure wouldn't want to hunt the way they do in europe, they take you out and tell you what to shoot when it comes buy. The rich will always PAY for their animal versus saving up their money and actually go on a HUNT of a lifetime. It is easier for them to buy what they want. Sorry, got on a soap box for a minute there. I'm outta here,....for now!!!!

RE: Fair Chase Hunting
Yep Texas is full of free range exotics. On our low fence place we have fallow, sika, axis, and feral hogs.

RE: Fair Chase Hunting
I saw free ranging exotics when I was in Texas so they are not all high fenced.

I guess I stand corrected, I am familiar with the Hill Country/ thought exotics had to be behind a high fence so as not to "cross" with other species. Texas game laws? not sure just asking.

Generally speaking, if a production company hunts fair-chase, the DVD will promote this somewhere on the cover. The ones that don't mention "Fair Chase" are usually high-fence!
White Knuckle Productions are 100% fair-chase - period! |
RE: Fair Chase Hunting
But the good thing is that I don't believe there is a closed season for the exotics, correct? Been a while since I lived in Texas, but that used to be the rule. Feel like taking anexotic in the spring or summer, let it fly.

RE: Fair Chase Hunting
No their is not a closed season, same rules that apply to hogs pretty much.
Right Ausie? |

Too busy living to care what others are doing. If there happy I'm happy.
I do think most video's leave out what's most important to me, the scouting. Part of that happens only in the imagination so I guess they couldn't show that. Often takes me years to actually hunt a place. I like that time. |
