i see sign, but no sightings
ok. have a spot on public land. i see alot of sign in there, poop, trails going all thru it, etc, but have sat it in twice, both morning hunts, with no deer sightings. it is a little, mini field about 30 yards by 30 yards and it is tucked inside of acre or soof pines. i know the deer like the pines, and would think (without even considering the sign i saw) that deer would come thru this area - sort of like a little place to roam and browse inside the cover of the pines. i guess my question is: if i see sign (pretty fresh looking also), does that mean that deer frequent there? i cant see how deer wont come to the spot, some kind of deer must leave the sign, but im confused as to why i dont see any deer in there. any thoughts? i take all precautions with odor and am pretty quite after setting up the climber.i dont know if i should move or stay there? i mean in terms of sign, its all there, so as for scouting, i dont see how i can find a better spot by judging the sign i see there, ya know? thanks

RE: i see sign, but no sightings
yea thats what i was thinking. i would hate to just move on to another spot because i dont see deer, and start all over with the scouting process, but i dont want to sit there for a million hunts either lol. i might try tomarrow morning , and then maybe one night hunt later in the week. but it kind of sucks lol, i did my HW and thought I had a good spot, just to see skunked first two hunts. we will see tomarrow i guess. thanks bud

i know. they probably have a humongous party, 15 bucks and70 does, every night there from 2am-430am until i get there and then they laugh, leave and think "stupid humans" while they are trotting away. deer are sneaky little buggers

RE: i see sign, but no sightings
How were the weather conditions of your morning hunts? We hunted Sat AM in a spot that typically produces a lot of does but it was sunny and hot and the only deer we saw where crossing the road and hour and a half before light. I think that since it was warm for the previous few days as well as Sat, they they were moving later (after dark) and early (still dark) to avoid the heat. I also, think that since we had a little cool spell for a few days and then it got quite hot again that it really changes there pattern and especially the times that they travel. This weekend it is going to cool down a bit for us in PA and I hope good things could happen from it, buck starts this saturday so we are trying to get our does out of the way this week. Good luck and try to hunt that same spot again with different weather conditions and it just might work.

thanks PA. yea it was hot then too. i also got in a little late in the morning, about 20 minutes before light and had to put up a climber ,so maybe i was a little too loud for there liking. i will go tomarrow and try. and like ya said maybe it will cool down this saturday. i cant wait for some nice deer weather so they move alot . thanks bud [8D]
