Vein keeps coming off the arrow!!!
Im so tired of the veins coming off my arrows,I try to practice alot, and shoot alot, but the arrow going through my whisker bisquit eventually tares one off( I will never get rid of whisker bisquits). I get them profesionally put on, but its just a matter of time before they come off again. Some do last a cupple months, idk if thats the average life of them.
Do you guys have this problem with the veins and whisker bisquits?, how do you prevent this? |
RE: Vein keeps coming off the arrow!!!
when i got my bow i wonted a whisker biscut but was told toget a dropaway which i did i have been told thought if you cut some of the whiskers off where the vains go through at can solve the proplem

Ok, hang on here dude......Let's get this worked out. First off, WB's are NOTORIOUS for being vane robbers......It's just the nature of the beast. An arrow can only go through those w/out an eventual negative effect.
Ok, first off, what vanes are you using? Blazers are BY FAR the best to use for a WB.....Also, what arrows do you use? |
RE: Vein keeps coming off the arrow!!!
You want your veins to stay on but you want you WB to stay on, well you can't have it both ways unless your "professional" does a better job at fletching your arrows.

RE: Vein keeps coming off the arrow!!!
I already see the problem...you get them "professionally" put on. Bull hockey. The only professional is you. Buy a jig and start doing it yourself.
A few years back, I shot a WB. I never had a vane come off unless it went through the target and tore it up. Of course, I was using straight fletching. Wb's don't like much helical. Are your vanes helical? |
RE: Vein keeps coming off the arrow!!!
Sounds like you need to find a new "professional", or learn to do your ownrefletching. I have NEVER had a vane come off an arrow in 7yrs of using a Wisker Biscuit. I have been doing my own fletching and never a problem. A drop of glue on the leading end of the vane helps also.
The Biscuit seems toget blamed for a lot of the wrong reasons. If it's set up properly and your bow is tuned, andarrows are fletched and tunedproperly, you're going to shoot well with a WB.:) I use just a slight off set with my vanes, not veins.:D:D |
RE: Vein keeps coming off the arrow!!!
I had this trouble the first time I refletched my arrows. After I refletched my arrows I put a dab of glue on the front and back of the vein (I put Blazers on both times), and haven't had a trouble since.

RE: Vein keeps coming off the arrow!!!
blazers for me too!,fletched with a slight helical and extra glue at the front.no problems so far.

RE: Vein keeps coming off the arrow!!!
I have never had a single vane come off an arrow from the WB. and the only color vane that ever curled was white ones i used to shoot. BTW I shoot carbon express arrows with what ever the normal rubber vanes are that have been coming on my arrows the past few years.I read here a couple of weeks ago the darker vanes held up better, so i went and checked everyones arrows i hunt with, (5 total people) all with WB and only the white vanes on my old arrows and my uncle's were curling, all the dark colors were perfect, just like everyone has been saying. Thanks guys

RE: Vein keeps coming off the arrow!!!
my fletchings are always falling off and i dont know if its the wb or just wear. cuz i shoot everyday
|
RE: Vein keeps coming off the arrow!!!
I used to have the same problem when I was shooting a drop away rest. I fixed this problem by useing"Goat Tuff". It's a little more expensive than most of the other glues, but it works great! So far I haven't had a vane fall of yet.:D

RE: Vein keeps coming off the arrow!!!
Like said before,a small dab of glue on the front of each vane will fix it,also make sure your nock vane is at 12:00 and you wont have any probs, alot of people try to put the nock vane at the same angle as the opening and that gives you al kinds of problems.Ive been useing the WB since they came out and have had em on three differant bows with absolutly no probems after I figured out the do's and donts....

use goat tuff glue on your arrows the vains wont come off then
|
RE: Vein keeps coming off the arrow!!!
I only shoot feathers through my wb. I have a couple arrows that still have the original flethchings on them and both arrows have more than 2000 shots through the WB. They are starting to look a little thin but they still fly true. I will post a pic of one of them tonight. I put the WB on myself but my proshop flethced my arrows. Now thats a fletching job!
|
RE: Vein keeps coming off the arrow!!!
make sure none of you fletching hit the black part of your wb.. and the big thing that helped me is i put wraps on my arrows, now they never come off unless it tears the wrap off with it, which is only if it hit one while practicing...

RE: Vein keeps coming off the arrow!!!
Call me crazy... Your shooting your fletching threw a hole just a tad bit bigger than your arrows and your upset because your fletchings are coming off
![]() Go buy youself a Blitzenburger and start fletching your own arrows;) |
RE: Vein keeps coming off the arrow!!!
i suggest using a 3'' vane or blazers. No one needs a longer vane than thoughs. I use a WB and i love it. I fletch my own arrows though. I use super glue gel with the arizona fletcher. The glue Sets in less than 10 seconds and its ready to shoot. THey stay on strong too.Their also easily takin off with a razor blade. Super glue is too runny you must have the GEL. DO this and i can guarentee you will be fine. I wouldnt change MY WB for anything.

RE: Vein keeps coming off the arrow!!!
Just put a drop of glue infront of each vane and one at the end...I have never had problems with the WB, I think they are great!!
