Full Moon during RUT?

I have pretty much narrowed down that the peak rutting here in East Central Illinoishappens around the first full moon in November. But I can't pin down when the main chase faze happens, some people tell me that it's about 1 1/2 weeks before the full moon, then the majority of breeding happening during the full moon. Has anyone else in the Midwest noticed when the MAIN chase faze happens.

The first full moon is Nov 24th I think that is a little late. JMO. all the hoopla I have been hereing is for an early year around Halloween. I wouldnt mind if it was later I will be out there the 10th to the 16th.

October full moon is the 26th

Does the moon phase have anything to do with when the rut occurs?

I just pulled the lunar calendar ands seen this myself. SO....when people say "full moon" this and "full moon" that....are they "full" of it?

The 24th is late. Maybe it's the new moon, which is around the 3rd?

If my memory is right, I usually see most chaseing going on around Nov5th-12th...who knows.

No, the rut is induced by photoperiodism, the amount of light in a given day. Not by moon phase. Also, there's no full moon until the 24th of Nov. Most rut activity up northhas halted by then. Repeat, most.;)

The moon phases do indeed have a little to do with the rut, but I believe the amount of light is far more important.

Like always, I think the peak will fall the week of the 13th...;)

Jeff, actually yes it does. According to Charles Alsheimers and many other Bio guys the chase phase kicks in or picks up about 3 days following the 2nd full moon following the Fall Equinox.

With Fraleys quote above, from Halloween on should be very exciting this year.

And according to the Drury's and all their history, they've killed more bucks on the 3 days of Nov 8th, 9th and 10th then any other days all year long.

Your "PEAK" or lockdown is a little late....usually a couple days before or after the 15th of Nov, as far as PA, not sure how it goes as you head south.... Can't be much different until you head more south.
