RE: scent smoker
lol sorry forgot the link let me fix that:eek:
|
RE: scent smoker
you know that's funny. I've talked to quite a few older guys that hunt and a few of them said that smoke was the best way to scent up for hunting.it's interesting to say the least.

RE: scent smoker
i heard that many times before as well...and the whole carbon thing, and the stuff they add to the woods chips that is in most scent killers/sprays....man....sounds like it might be worth trying...i dont know...
thats why i made the post...sounds pretty interesting |
RE: scent smoker
if it's decentlypriced i would try it out. why not? it looks neat and would at least spark a campfire conversation.
|
RE: scent smoker
i always figured all animals would run the other way if they smelled smoke. why? because the only two times they would smell smoke would be from human campfires.....or two the woods are on fire!
|
RE: scent smoker
where i hunt there is a lot of forestry and timber management programs going on that require the use of controlled burns during the hunting season.it kinda becomes a normal smell to wildlife imo
|
RE: scent smoker
oh, well that shows how much i know :D

RE: scent smoker

RE: scent smoker
I just checked the product out. Very first thing I thought of when I saw it...that's just a beekeeping smoker. I think you can find a beekeeping smoker for half the price, if not cheeper.

RE: scent smoker
On the site they say it is a "modified smoker" - that is probably what that means.
I would rather buy from them that if it doesn't work no one can say it was because I didn't have the right type of smoker :D We shall see how well it works. |
RE: scent smoker
I'm wondering......If this works could you use a liquid smoke type of spray to freshen up your boots and such while in the field? I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work if smoke scent does what they say it does.
I'm hunting tomorrow, and it's going to be HOT. I'm not buying one of these right now, but I'm going to fire up my smoker grill 1st thing in the morning and see if it works. I got busted on opening day, there is just NO WAY to contain human odor in this heat, scent killer gets quickly diluted on your head and face in short order and I really don't want the extra movement of spraying myself every 10-15 minutes. I know their device should concentrate the smoke more than I will be able to, but I'm going to try it anyway. I'll let y'all know if it works. |
RE: scent smoker
I would think smoke is smoke - The site says hardwood chips -
Should be out this weekend so I will let you know how it goes...... or doesn't go :) You never know I might have a "slightly used "scent smoker for sale next monday :) |

RE: scent smoker
True, I don't really know what else is in it. I'm going to try some real hickory smoke though. I'm intrigued by their explanation that sweating increases the cover and logically follow it, I've smelled smokier after sweating in moderately smokey clothes.
As hot as it is, I will definitely be sweating, and I used a boatload of scent killer saturday and was busted at 50 yards. If this doesn't work I'll just wait until it cools off, but the extended forecast shows the next 2 weeks to be HOT, I gotta try something. |
RE: scent smoker
If your worried about having to refresh the smell on maybe your boots. Take a bag of ash with ya and rub it on.

RE: scent smoker
Sloth,
You're right, it does put you in the mind of a bee smoker. And the original prototype is that of a bee smoker, however, it has been modified to give off 150% more smoke. As far as pricing, I've seen bee smokers as high as $185.00. Crazy, I know! Good luck to everyone this season, I hope it is safe for everyone. |
RE: scent smoker
I forgot to get back here and tell about the results until someone pm'd me and asked.....
So far excellent results - it just could be the real deal..... I will post if something changes my opinion but as of right now it has impressed me. They had very fast shipping too. |
