Single pin sight?????

Ok guys let me get some input from ya'll about quality sights. I use a single pin thatI have set up so I am dead on from 0-35 yards. The current sight I am using is the Foxfire from Carolina Archery. I has a small light on it that I can turn on right at dark to luminate the pin. Problem is that when it is on, I can't see past it...hence I can't shoot. This cost me a shot at a very nice 8 pointer last week. Here's the sight I'm currently using. It only has one piece of green fiber optic that wraps around the sight...hence not as much light gather ability and the need for the light.

I was thinking of switching to the Trophy Ridge b/c it has 3 feet of fiber wrapped around the sight for more light gathering ability. Any suggestions for single pin sights???? Also the Titan has .019 fiber size or .039 large size. I would assume the larger would be better. Help me out guys!!

I have an HHA site that has the clear case around the pin, this allows for more light to hit the fiber and travel the entire strand, I can shoot in the dark if i can see my mark. :D

I use the foxfire and have been happy with it. It is usually before or after shooting light before I can't see the pin.

Vital Bow Gear. Rugged, and the StarTrack has fibre optic yardage markers, a very nice feature. The green pin is also very bright.

I shoot with Sword Acu-site. Three levels of adjustment on pin light.

Looks like the general consensus is HHA

Now you know why I always say that a light is not good, with the possible exception of shooting inside a ground blind. I'm also going to put ina plug for the HHA. A simple OL 5000 will work and it's bright enough that I can see my pin well after legal shooting time has passed. Rihhed, protects the pin well, and pretty much bullet proof. Lifetime waranty.

With the very small amount of fiber I have on my existing light, I have a very hard time with it even right before legal time ends!! Coming to full draw on that big 8 last week and not being able to shoot did it for me!! Time for a new sight!

I also have a cobra it's a pendulum/slide combo, great light gathering ability. No worries about not being able to see the pin at dusk here.I just want to know how you set your bow to shoot dead on from 0 to 35 yards that's unbelivable. My 22 won't do that.

I have a tru glo single pin adjustable and I can still see the pin after its too dark to shoot. I do like HHA sights though and if I ever change, I'm going with an HHA.

I like the HHA OPtimizer line of sights. I have used many differant kinds......if they are too bright they in essence blind you, or fog your target vision. The other problem many people try to hunt a few minutespast legal shooting hours, and then they are fighting the low vision through their peep-site as well as a very darkshadowy backround.

Good Luck

Another vote for HHA 5500 with the adjustable rheostat dial which you can adjust to make that pin brighter or duller. Works like a champ. Certainly no need for any added lights on the HHA!

With my bow/arrow/broadhead package I have less than 6" ondrop from 10-30 yards. At 10 yards I know to hold a little low and then by the time I'm shooting out at 30 yards, I'm holding the pin directly where the arrow will hit.

Ditto, I shoot the jumbo single pin with an 6" extention bar. Very bright and durable.

I just have a question. How do you keep your arrow dead on at 0-35 yards from one pin? Im not doubting you by any means, i just want to know how u do it. Is it the sight?

See my explanation above. It takes practice but I am confident in where I need to hold the pin at any range. It eliminates the confusion between several pins. Works very well for me! The doe I smoked 2 days ago can testify to that!! ;)

I don't know about 0-35 yards. It depends on the bow's speed. I did some checking a few years ago with a bow shooting about 264 fps. Sighted in at 25 yards, I started shooting in five yard increments (5. 10, 15, and so on). At five yards the arrow was just about the same as 25. At 10 & 15 essentially 1"+ high. About 1 3/4: high at 20. At 30 yards arrows hit about 2 1/2" low. 3" low as about 32 yards.

So in essence this showed me I could set the sight for 25 yards and shoot anything within 30 yards, with a mid body hold, and still hit well in the vitals. No muss, no fuss. Just determine if the dseer is within 30 yards and make the best shot I can when everything is right. If I have to guess if he's over 30 yards then he gets a walk. That's about as far as I can get any clear shots in the woods I hunt anyway.

Now, if I should be in a place where 25 yards might be the longest available shot then I set the sight for 20 yards.

So I guess it's possible to be able to shoot 0-35 without moving the sight, especially if speeds are in the 275-280 fps range. Just takes a little know how. Basiclly shooting your equipment and becoming familar with what it can do.

Exactly! It's all about knowing my equipment and what my effective range is and where to hold the pin.
