I don't really know, Aaron. I think deer can see reds.....but I actually wouldn't be afraid to use a small light in even natural light (no lens).

Ok it just a little hat clip/strap-on LED but i have to walk through an open field to get to my stand if theres enough moon-light and i can remember all the groundhog holes i might try it with no light till i get to the woodline.

well, i know that the red light doesn't spook predators...but honestly i don't think that white light really "spooks" deer. they don't know what it is. i actually walked right past a doe last year long before daylight with my light on and she never moved.it's better to use a light and not risk twisting an ankle or getting lost. con't worry about it. keep the light held low to the ground(don't pan the woods in front of you). and get in early, you got nothing to worry about.

Aaron....I'm not sure it makes a difference (color). I have a green little headlamp (clip on).....but like you...I rarely use it.

When does your season start? Are you still shooting on the weekends? Shoot me a PM......maybe you wanna shoot some tomorrow?

Streamlite advertises that their lights won't spook game and they are green. I don't know if it is true or not. You can't believe what you see on an ad. .

I almost forgot to mention that I noticed last year a L.E.D. light is terrible for tracking blood. At least the one I used was. I couldn't see the red at all. It just looked like wet grass. I had to go back and get my Mag light.
