|
RE: expendables?
You can find all the info at rage.com
|
RE: expendables?
all right, so mechanicals shoot like field points right?
|
RE: expendables?
"I" think expandables are fine IF you have the proper KE and your bow is in tune.
I know my KE is fine.....and I know my bow's in tune. I also know the size of the game I'm pusuing. I don't have a worry that expandable swill do the job. |
RE: expendables?
[blockquote] I'm not going to do it again. Please do a search on Rage heads. Better yet just go back to the third page of this forum. [/blockquote] |
RE: expendables?
Aftershock Archery puts out some great mechanicals. I have used them for a few years now and have not had a problem with them.
|
RE: expendables?
I have used the G5 Tekan 2. I like them better than most because the blades take very little KE to deploy. I like to use the extra cut blades to take the cutting diameter to 1.5" i think. They are very solid and dependable, all three deer a shot were complete pass thrus and the accuracy was simply amazing

RE: expendables?
Myself and my two hunting buddies have been using the Vortex 100gr broadheads for about the past 5 seasons. We have taken ~15 whitetail collectively without a failure of any kind. Each time the blades have fully opened and cut a 2 1/2" laceration all the way through the path of the arrow.

RE: expendables?
The rage cost me a big Bull but I should have checked to make sure the blades were locked in first. It is hard to look at everything to make sre it is in working order before you shoot. I think I am going to through ou the rest of the ones I have because I do not want to miss another animal or have anybody else miss a shot because I gave them a defective broadhead.

RE: expendables?
rage arent all that good just look at all the questions and complaints about them onthis website.ALL MECHANICALS DONT SHOOT LIKE FIELDPOINTS EITHER,i know they say they do but they dont,my broadheads do though shoot EASTMAN ST3 TITANIUMS THEY R SWEET,AND THEY CUT MASSIVE HOLES
|
RE: expendables?
GRIM REAPERS!!!!!!
|
RE: expendables?
hey mathews, so your saying that your EASTMAN ST3 TITANIUMS shoot like fieldpoints?
compared to mechanicals? |
RE: expendables?
what about the eastman silver strike anyone used them?
|
RE: expendables?
I've killed a lot of deer with NAP Spitfires with no problems but I will also be try'n G5 Tekan 2 this year I hope the Tekans do alot of damage I really like the rear deployment of the blades..
Yes I know the Rages deploy to the rear... but not interested too much negative going around about em |
RE: expendables?
I know the owners of Aftershock and their expandables open up a nice hole that's for sure. I'll stick with my Montec G5 fixed blades. I've shot 5 deer with them and 4 were pass troughs with plenty of a blood trail.
|
RE: expendables?
I would personally recommend the Tekan 2 blade expandables. Used them for the first time this weekend on a nice doe, and they were worth every penny. Fly no different than field points, and open to perfection. According to my cousin (archery shop owner) this mechanical broadhead throws every imperfection associated with mechanicals out the window, which is why I made the switch from fixed blade muzzy's for the first time...
|
RE: expendables?
im going to try the3 blade eastman silver strike to see how that goes , never used mechanicals so ima give it a try:D
|
RE: expendables?
I used to use Spitfire's (mech.) and Thunderheads (fixed)all the time. I found the two to be pretty comparable, both were very good broadheads. I then started using the G5 Montecs and still use them. I will say though, that my interest has been peeked about the Rage 2 blade broadheads, I might have to give them a try. For now, there is no other mechanical I'd want to take into the woods than the Spitfire's. I may even give them another go this year........ just for old times sake.:D

RE: expendables?
I will say though, that my interest has been peeked about the Rage 2 blade broadheads, I promise to post a photo if I'm lucky enough to take another deer. I have 4 a/c/c's tipped with these in my quiver. |
