LONG DRAW LENGTH
I am in the market for a new bow, but I have run into a snag. It turns out that my draw length exceeds what many of the top rated bows out there draw to. Personally, I draw a 32". I contacted Mathews, and they told me that they only have the Conquest that draws that long, and there are no available cams that will exted their other bows (legacy, icon) to 32". I am running into this all over the place.
I want a good bow, and am willing to pay, but I don't know where to look. If I go to a dealer, I am afraid that I am going to be told that the bow they carry is going to be best for me (and even though that may be the case), I would like to hear the voices of the masses. I am going to a Archey shop this weekend, but I would like to hear the opinions of many over the opinion of one guy. so in short...I need several objective opinions. Does anyone out there have any advice or opinions on bows with draw lengths for fellas with wingspans like mine? Thanks |
RE: LONG DRAW LENGTH
I am in the same boat, but don't fret too much. There are some good bows out there. BTW. I have a 33" draw. I never cared too much for the short ATA craze that took and is taking place.
Currently my main compound bow is a Parker Feather Mag II. My backup is a Jennings. Personally, if I were to buy another compound bow (I got a longbow currently being made for me now), which unfortunately won't be for a while I would look at a Hoyt Protech or a Martin Scepter Elite. There are certainly some good bows out there that will fit you. And remember that bow speeds are not measured with 32 inch draws, so whatever the bow is listed at, expect to get more. |
RE: LONG DRAW LENGTH
take a look at
www.highcountryarchery.com look at the Carbon Force goes out to 33" draw 3#s or less 39"s ata with the xd cam you can adjust draw length & letoff without a bow press, nice for fine tuning draw length hope this helps Gregg |

RE: LONG DRAW LENGTH
The McPherson Mark X11 goes to 33". If you want to look at real sweet one you could look at the McPherson 38" Specila. It goes to 32. I persoanlly shot one last summer and it was one of the better bows I've ever shot.. This should fit you nicely because of it's length. With a draw that long I would shy away from the ultra-short bows. Just too much string angle to play with there. Another one like the 38" is the Pearson Freedom Pro--33", Predator VX--32".
Best thing to do for more info on them is look at www.benpearson.com I shoot the Freedom, but if I had a draw like yours I'd be shooting the Pro-no doubt about that. |

RE: LONG DRAW LENGTH
I also draw 32, and got a high country recently, but it didn't draw out long enough. My bow shop told me that I could either go with a nock loop, or adjust to the short length, which he recomended. I tried adjusting, and once I got used to it, I shot very acuratly. I would either find a bow you like and go with the nock loop, or adjust. Or you could go to a recurve and make your own draw length.
