Good going GMMAT. One question, why didn't you field dress her? That's the first thing I'd have done when I found her. You got to get those intestines out, especially on a deer that was shot last night. Packing ice around her won't stop the stomach juices from working. Must have been a single lung or a liver to have her run 200 yards. Great job finding her. You really should gut them quicker.

We knew you could get er done, Congrats on the doe!
Your broadheads are fine, sometimes the holes just get pluged with meat or tissue and all the bleeding is internal.
The Brother-in-law called one night, said he knew he made a good hit on a buck but could not find but a few specks of blood. When I got there with some good lighting you could see where the buck had turned up the leaves when he ran off and we found him about 100 yards away stiff as a board, Kirt had shot him right tight to the shoulder boneswith a Snuffer (the old big one) and the holes were huge, but were plugged up with shoulder muscle.
Again Congrats on the deer and your persistence on finding her!

Congrats on finding her Jeff - I'm sure it's nice to have that monkey off your back now. I also agree with David, first thing I'd be doing is getting those guts out. I dress them ASAP when I find them, get the organs out, then if you need pack the chest cavity with ice till you can butcher her up later.

I'm also curious to learn more about where exactly you ended up hitting here at and what organs you hit..........

Congrats Jeff!! I feel the need to drop a doe soon also. I also wonder why no field ddressing? Takes what like 5-10 minutes tops and cools a bunch quicker with ice in the chest cavity. Hope yopur meat is till able to get in the freezer. Keep up with the details and nice job tracking!!

I don't want to give the wrong impression. I, in fact, did not field dress her.....but I DID butcher her. All the meat's already on ice. All I lost was the inner tender loins.

I have a VERY busy schedule at work, today.....and I didn't want to take the time to field dress, skin, etc... So....I did it from the outside (butchered her), sans gutting her. I also thought it was the quickest way to get the meat on ice.

I'll respond to all questions at some point, today....but I wanted to clear that up. She's ready for the meat packaging plant.
