I mark my area for every possible (ethical) shot. Little colored flags that correspond with my sight pin colors.

I prerange many things with my laser rangefinder but I don't mark it out on the ground. I have my range finder on my chest with those bino straps, a quick check and I'm drawing my bow.

Around a couple of my permanent stands I paint orange dots the size of softballs on the sides of trees. I take a tape measure to the tree and have a guy walk around it at a 20 yard circle painting dots as he goes.

During the rut, I mark 20 and 30 yards with the Tinks containers or scent wicks. Usually only need 1 or 2 for each yardage and you can gauge the perimeter around you.

DITTO,if I don't have time to range the animal,I will probably have already ranged a spot close by.

Icovered neon paperwithclear tape and placed them around in my hunting area. The color of the paper matches my sights for that distance.

I hunt in so many trees in the woods that I can't pre-mark them, especally if I want the deer/turkeys to get used to the markings. I do, however, carefully eyball range a couple of trees in each of my shooting alleys as soon as I get in my stand (and have enough light to see by). I am usually hunting on the side of a mountain, so I can't really pace off the yardage.

The woods where I hunt are very thick allowing for only one or two shooting lanes from each stand. All of the areas have distances of about 13-25 of my paces. I have my pins set for my paces at 15 paces(green) and 25paces (yellow).

I usually range distances to various trees, fence posts, rocks, etc around my stand as soon as I get there. My problem is after an hour or so, i forget the ranges to half the objects I ranged and have to do it again (sux gettin old). The only time I mark distances is if I'm overlooking a field or open area and want to know where my effective range ends. I may take a piece of flagging tape tied to a branch and stick it in the ground.

I use a predator IV pendulum sight, don't need a bunch of markers. All I need to know is if it's under 35 yards. If I have to range it, it's probably too far away and if it's that far away, I've got time to range it.

I do the same as Rob! I pretty much mark my farthest shot I'm go for and go from there!

My brother in law gave me some stakes(like tent stakes) that you can put the wicks in for scents and lures. They are different colors and I will be using those as my yardage markers. Pretty neat idea.

RE: HOW MANY OF YOU MARK YOUR YARDAGE FOR BOW HUNTING

I don't mark anything. The less scent I leave around the better. For the most part I can tell within a yard where 30 yards is, and that's as far as I'll shoot at an animal. My sight is set for 25 yards and even with a slow speed of 264 fps all I have to do is determine if the animal is within 30 yards. If so, hold the middle of the chest cavity and make my best shot. No holding high or low or trying to guess yardage. I do it this way to avoid brain overload. KISS.

Thats what I do.But I do make my guess before I range it just to keep in tune.

When I put my stand up I take pictures, then I will range trees in the area and then mark them. I will study the view from my stand all season so I know where I can take my shots

I put a big pile of corn where I want them to stop.

Just kidding.

In the past I have use a 30 yard rope and tied one end to the bottom of the tree and would make a mark or tie a ribbon at 30 yards. Now I have a range finder and I just laser it and mark.

Me also, scent bombs work great for marking yardage.

I'm with Rob on this one. I usually range things out when I first get in the stand and then periodically throughout the time on stand to make sure I remember everything. This is my first year hunting with a single pin adjustable, so it will come into play a lot more these days.

I range different landmarks or trees around my stand and make notes on the yardage.

When I hang a stand I pick out landmarks or certain trees and walk them off and make a note of them.
