Calling a Buck

ok someone posted here how to call a doe and another person said use a fawn in distress call or something like that, so my question is, its not the rut yet, they are in their feeding pattern still until maybe october 10 or so so my question is, oh plus my dad saw 2 buck fighting but just playing around or so like getting ready for the rut(some info on that plz) so lets say october 1st(start of my deer season) should i use my rattling bag? buck grunt, doe bleat?

I've had some succes with light rattlingbut it's never a sure thing. Consistently calling bucks is definitelyrut oriented.

I use my grunt call continuously throughout the entire season. I have called in curious bucks in early October. I killed my last 3 bucks by grunting them in.

Just what ducsauce said. Although my grunts change as the rut intensifies. And during the rut more like a long series of grunts.

A buddy of mine called in a nice 7 pt that was walking across a cutover out of range. It made him curious enough to check it out and he got a shot. Nice buck too. It works...
