Taking Albino Deer
 

The owner of one of my leases says she has been seeing a doe that's an albino, pure white. What are the pros and cons of taking her?

Same as any other deer as far as I'm concerned. They are genetically inferior and usually don't live long. Tree huggers tend to give them fluffy status and you might catch flak, but it's just another deer. I watched a piebald one for 3 years from when she was a fawn. She had a sister that was bigger. The deer had shorter legs and in the second year she was still small. I saw her from about 50 yards the third year and said I'd shoot her if I got a chance. I never did get the chance but I think someone else on the neighboring property must have as she vanished that year.

i saw a show that said the natives did not kill albinos, they were sacred or somthin im not sure of the specifics, id shoot one though.

Bull..lol An friend of mine took a 12 point albino, (Not color phase) and he's had great success afterwards including other bucks. :D

In PA very legal and I'd hunt exclusively for her like I did a 1.5 year old piedbald a few years back. I passed some really good bucks hunting her. Had her at 50 yards 5 times but she always, always skirted me. [&:]

Cons- its illegal in some states check you regs!
