RE: My deer I Arrowed last night

Well I guess I will tell the whole story...

I own 10 acres south of Spokane Washington, this property buts up against a 1000 acre "Nature Park" ;). The Mountain I own the property on had a bad forest fire back in 1991 and burned everything to the ground, so I have 1 Large Pine tree on the property. Since the fire what has grown backare large willow bushes, and brush.....needless to say I had to build a blind (that was a long winded way of saying I was hunting from an elevated blind).

I have been hunting in the late afternoons here as it has been warm during the days (80+ degrees). So Friday night a friend and I went up about 4:30 PM to sit the evening out and see what we would see....not much to see until about 6:30 or so when the first deer walks in, a small spike, soon a couple more small bucks, and a couple fawns and does. About this time (7pm)I lean over to tell my friend, we are running out of time, my wife had me on a deadline I had to be back to the house at 8pm no later ( she had taken a long dinner break from work to watch the kids, and she had to be back to work). As I turn back and look out of the blind I see the buck coming over the ridge (200+ yards away)in front of us,I can see he is a big buck, but can’t tell what buck he is. I glance down at my watch 7:10pm as he slowly makes his way towards us the time and light keeps ticking away, I continue to glance down at my watch, 7:15, 7:20, 7:25, and still a good 100 yards away. I look over at my friend and mouth...my wife is going to kill me, about this time the buck hits the bottom of the draw and slips behind some large willows.....with in 30 seconds he pops out to the left of us at about 40 yards, at this point I can see he is a 5x5, and that he may be a shooter. He continued down the trail at this point in a pretty good walk,I glance at my watch 7:35, I have to be in my truck and driving home by 7:40 [:-](the wife is going to be pissed). He is now about 10 yards to my left and headed right in front of me, at 6 yards I draw, look at my friend andwhisper "what do you think, should I take him" he doesn’t say no....good enough for me. I take aim and let the arrow fly, it finds it mark. He dropped right in his tracks, like someone cut his legs out from under him....he rolls a couple of times down the hill, I look over to my friend and say "he’s done". I check my watch....7:39.

My wife was mad, but she will live:D.

Nice buck, and that's probably the best time management story I've heard in a long time. Congratulations.
