I agree with you Crawler, although I haven't quite held onto my previous bows as long as yours. I still have my first as a backup though, before buying my next after 8yrs. I held onto that one for 5yrs. I just felt I did all I could with it, and with some of the modern systems out now it was too tempting to not go new. I really like my latest alot, and probably hang onto it for quit awhile. As far as buying every yr I too don't see the need. Nothing like getting to know your bow over several yrs, its like being as one. I don't get caught up in having the latest and greatest top of the line equipment. But I think it would be cool to own several bows at once if I could afford it!

I love my Martin bow, use to shoot hoyt but that bow is my new carp bow. But i will have my bow for many years, it is my hunting partner.

I think some people change their gear just to keep reinventing the sport for themselves. If that trips their trigger more power to them. I shoot a 12 year old Pro-line but I will upgrade for next season

I hunted with one old PSE for 20 years. I shot a lot of deer with that bow. I still have it and have some arrows tuned to shoot with it. The next one was a PSE that I kept and hunted with for 8 years. It's my "FIRST" backup and I have about 6 arrows tuned with broadheads for it. I killed a lot of deer with that bow. I now own a Darton that I've had for 3 years. I have a BUNCH of arrows tuned and I'm working on killing a lot of deer with this bow. Unless it breaks I'll have it for a while... although I may pick up a recurve somewhere along the way.

I agree. My first PSE...5 years. 2nd PSE....5 years. Current PSE...less than a year, and I wouldn't have bought it if I didn't get a super deal on ebay. Personally I would rather spend my money on other things I need or want, than upgrade bows each year. What type or how new your bow is, doesn't determine whether you succeed or not.
I'm sure I'll have this bow quite a while....like david, maybe a recurve in the future...when I get the time to spend shooting it.

I have two Dartons-identical-1 is going on 11 years & the other is going on 9 years-unless they break, I will probably die shooting them. I still like looking but mine do the job-4 biggame animals this year. Oh, I have my recurve (retired) that I shot my 1st few Whitetails with-1st one was Oct. 4th, 1958. It is a Eddings made in Iowa many years ago. Since then-I have no idea how many biggame animals I have taken & with my current two "Several".
I have shot almost every bow ever made over the years. Some I am sure, none of you ever heard of. Grimes bow anyone????
