RE: Maryland!
I'll concede thathe's partly right, archery isn't for the faint of heart. No doubt. However, something tells me that his opinion would change if, instead of Joe Schmoe bowhunting quietly behind Lamp's happy little subdivision - there were 3 wild rednecks back there beyond the edge of the yards, turning it loose with .300 Ultra Magnums, rattling his windows, and scaring the bejesus out of his wife andkids at 6:40 a.m.
Either that, or maybe paying several (increasingly expensive) deductibles per year for smashing deer 3-4xin his new CRV - that could change his whole outlook on things, too. Maybe even total the thing, or blow the airbags in his face... Maybe Mr. Lamp has never seen a doe mangled in an auto collision with it's intestines hanging out of it's rear end. Maybe it's never crossed his mind that a deer could roll up onto the hood of a Cobalt, and break two of its legs, and actually crawl away from the scene. That's not a pretty scene. Those are the realities of whitetail overpopulation in suburban areas. No denying it. Something's gotta kill 'em - it's either gonna be a hunter or an SUV. Either way, he's entitled to his opinion. |

RE: Maryland!
I hate when people write something with no fact to support their remarks. i posted a response and tried to be more PC than a lot of the responses posted.
All these people want deer and yet they don't want them in their yard or on their roads. What a shame. Imoved to MD 7 yrs ago and it's so backward compared to PA it's frightening. |
RE: Maryland!
I was the one that posted down under "what" on responses to this tool.

RE: Maryland!
Prime time for not only learning but emphasizing the maturity it takes to be a bow hunter.
The maturity of a bow hunter is one of the highest even though we are portrayed as being one of the lowest. We do the dirty job that others cannot even think about. We provide food for our families that often they have no idea the job we perform on their behalf. They sit down to a free range, very health meal without the slightest clue the life that was taken to provide it. We do and have to live with it. The bow hunter gives the animal all the chances of escape. We do not have the advantage of long range. We must get into their core area to even have a chance and in that area they are king. The bow hunter deserves a great deal more respect than they get. |

i commented:
Your information is incorrect and very biased. In fact, advances in technology-todays bows- are equipped well beyond what is need to kill godzilla, more or less a deer. Why dont you cry about how many insects die on car windshields ever second! Another fact, in the last century, deer populations have increased dramatically. The most important reason is the protection of does as the whitetail recovered from habitat loss. They basically marketed hunting to help the deer population increase over 500%. Whitetail Wisdom. "Dealing with Does". Larry Weishuhn. 2005 SOOOOOOOO....since habitat loss was one of the key factors that was killing off the deer population in the early 1900s, what do you think is the main problem today??? In actuallity, hunters are helping the population thrive through buying licenses and other hunting gear-such as bows and arrows. However, hunters are going backwards today more than ever do to environmental development-buildings, communities, roadways, etc. Hunting deer, more specifically, bowhunting, is one of the smallest-if not the smallest- influences on deer population. You forgot to add predators (food chain), deer collisions from vehicles, diseases, and violent winters. In fact, YOU are helping kill off the population Mr. Joe Blow through building the very house you live in-eliminating habitat for both deer and other animals. YOU ARE CRUEL! HMMMM...for someone who is suppose to be highly educated, we can certainly see you didnt take whitetails 101 in college. Maybe you can pull strings in your community college to offer the class. Then you can do research and teach it:) have a nice day. |
RE: Maryland!
Mr Lamp, I use the term Mr. rather loosely, was appointed a few years back by the past Governor, Glendening or whatever his name was. The day he was appointed he vowed to do away with bowhunting and would fight for the elimination of all hunting. He was appointed to the board as a voice for the opposition. At first he was quite vocal but the voices of the hunting community and their supporters calmed his butt a bit. Maryland is the Pinko Liberal State of the country. It's the Nirvana for the Kennedys, Rosie O'donnells, etc. It's really a wonder we have hunting there. Were it not for the work of organized hunting groups and the NRA it would have disappeared a few years back. How else can I put it, there's a bunch of AZZZZZZZZZZZZZZholeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssss runnin' the place. I got out before they locked the dang place down.
