RE: bow shop question
There are some pro shop guys on here who'll be able to help you more than I, but seems like a long time to me. If they're slammed with stuff (as I would suspect they are this time of year), it would help explain things a bit, but they should at least call unless they told you up front it would take that long.
Did they have to special order anything? |
RE: bow shop question
It really can. It depends on the time of year and the string maker in some cases. For example, Len's string maker moved into a new house. In the mist of it all they had some sort of problem. Len was backed up forever waiting for strings....even for his own bow. This close to the season I wouldn't doubt 2 weeks in a busy shop at all. Len and his guys spend a lot of late nights at this time of year. He refuses to push someone to the head of the line. You'll wait your turn.

RE: bow shop question
If you brought it into our shop today, depending on whether we had your strings and cables in stock.......If in stock, about a week....If we had to order them.....close to 3. This is not the time of year to be needing major work done on your bow. It's crunch time, and we're super busy. When I left today, we had some 20 bows needing work.
I'll never know why folks wait till 7 days before season opens to check out their equipment, only to find it busted. Then, they walk in the door and expect us to drop everything and fix it RIGHT NOW......I mean, season opens in a week after all...... |
RE: bow shop question
I don't think 2 weeks is too long considering the time of year. Especially if they don't have a string in stock and have to order one. Of course another option would be to pickup a bow press and replace the string/cable yourself.

RE: bow shop question
2 weeks? I waited2 months out of season...I was pissed off. Butit's the only decent bow shop in my area, so I didn't "vent".

RE: bow shop question
usually takes 2-5 days for me, depending on what strings you want.
I get a lot of them from Scott's Archery, he makes them up and delivers them to me. He is about 25 miles away. Good strings, good price and I can have pretty much anything in 2 days. I restrung 2 bows yesterday that were brought in on Thursday. In a pinch, I can have Mathews Zebra or Baracuda strings overnighted to me. If I need to order WC it takes about 5 days to get them. |
