Just an honest question....

I am looking in a catalog, and I see a set of 8x32 Swarovski bino for .........that's right, the low low price of FIFTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS!! Oh my....

But here's the question, and I'm being sincere as I truely don't know....There is also a set of Leupold 8x42's, and they are only $300......What makes the Swarovski THAT much better?? I've never looked through them admitedly...

They gather much more light, and you will get a brighter, more defined picture all the way out to the edges of the lenses. Shoot 3D with a medium pair of binocs, and then borrow your buddys leicas or swarovskis and look at the same difference. Now when before you could only make out half the x ring, and had to guess where the other side was..............the dark side appears with the swarovski's.

I will have a top notch pair of binocs someday, its just not in the budget now. I will likely have the spotting scope to match as well.........

from what ive heard is they use super high quality glass for the lenses, and the craftsmanship...blah, blah,...and so on.

Everything that Matt says is correct but there comes a point where all you're paying for is the name. My ex had a pair of Swaro EL's that run about $1800 and side by side with my $1000 Leupold Golden Rings of the exact same specs, the Golden Rings were brighter. Top end glass is top end glass but be sure to shop around all the manufacturer's best offerings before you drop that kind of cash.

The only way that I can explain it is that my buddy bought a pair of them and brought them over and let me look through them along side myNikons and the difference in clarity was amazing. With my budget I'll never own a pair but if I hunting out west a lot I would have to have a pair.

In fading light or looking into shjadows is where the good ones shine. I used to have a pair of 10x42 Bushnell Trophy's. Looking at some deer one evening I could see the rack on a buck out in the field with them. Then I looked with my 8x30 Swars and counted the points.

That was some years ago, back when I got my Swars for $650. But there is a marked difference between them. I gave the Trophy's away.

By the way. Cabelas isn't cheap. Most of their prices are retail.
