In all honesty.......he and his son have a good thing going on. MOST of the animals in there were taken by him or his son. Most.....near where he lives. That's a half-hour from here.
Their county is one over (farmcntry is from there).....but it's known to hold bigger deer. I can only hope to have a similar situation in a few years. I'm doin my part.
Yep....those (mostly) are NC deer.

I wish you all the luck in attaining your goals of a healthy balanced herd to hunt. One of my favorite places I started out there much the same as you with a lot of does and not so many bucks..... The herd there is now thriving after a few years of thinning does. Now one or two does for one buck holds the ratio in check pretty well.
Again good luck.

Scott....
The ONLY chance I have....is threefold:
1) The farmer that got the depredation permit keeps whaking does.
2) The guys on the adjacent lease keep doing what they're doing (they didn't take a buck off there, last year)
3) I do my part
All this....and I've got a neighbor who shot at least four 8-10 pointers last year. So....it's gonna be good for him, too, unfortunately.

I totally understand...... I have hunting pressure on 3 of 4 sides on this property. The 4th side borders an interstate and it takes its share of animals. Luckily for me the other hunters rarely kill any bucks off their land, however the pressure they put on the herd is pretty heavy.
All you can do is your best and hopefully the rest of the chips fall into place.

Those are some really nice looking mounts your Taxidermist has done!
I like the 3rd picture down where the Buck has his head raised upwards and it looks like he is using a licking branch!
