Around here, its all about management.
You can either have nothing but spikes and small bucks and tons of does, or you can wait and farm and feed and wait and have Big bucks and Tons of does.... We do a lot of planting, and protecting.We spent over 17 grand last year on Farming alone! Naturally we dont grow them like you midwest and northern boys, but if you baby them, you can get some nice deer. Its not too uncommon to get a 185-210 pounder off our place. Other places around here, 120-150 lbs...
They kill all the younguns.

Nice deer! I'm originally from SC but now in NC. From what I recall reading, SC has the highest deer per square mile ratio in the country! I still hunt down there regularly and it's eat up with em!

Congrats on a very nice deer! Thumbs up on the new baby also....! I had my seven year old daughter out hunt two days ago. What a gas sharing the woods with the little ones. We had several proud daddy moments...

Dang it. SC has no big bucks...none...they were all eaten by the aliens after they were taken up to the space ships and all sorts of sexually explicit tests were done on them.[:@][:@][:@][:@]
