How many people hunt without baiting?
 

How many people hunt without putting down any food attractants? Corn seems to be the most popular, along with apples, peanut butter, salt, sweet feed etc. Just kinda curious?

only thing i bait is my hook when i go fishin for catfish

find what the deer are eating in the wild and i really dont see the need to bait...to each his own...if you wanna bait and its legal go right ahead...just seems to be making more work for yourself carrying in 100lbs of corn...

Well in TN its legal to hunt over salt and mineral but not anything visible. I believe thats right. Some of my stand locations are hung over mineral or salt licks but I dont hunt them all the time. So I dont consider myself "technically" hunting over bait. Hunting is still hard with or without it.

baiting is allowed in 99.9% of New Jersey. The area I hunt is Federal Lands, and the Feds DO NOT ALLOW BAITING, so I don't

I don't hunt over bait only because I found without it I was seeing deer earlier and more of them. Lots of acorns. I do have a 20 acre food plot however. I don't hunt over it but it isn't "natural"

It is illegal where i hunt and even it was i wouldnt its called hunting not shooting.

I have a pipe feeder in the edge of the woods that I put corn in once in a while, mainly just for photos. Don't hunt near it, so I don't consider myself to be hunting with bait.

I don't, its illegal here, personally I like to hunt animals on there own terms and wouldnt use it if it was legal. To hunt over bait where its legal, thats a personal choice.

I have Bowhunted states where it is leagal (Deer) but do not. I don't use trail cams at home either but then, that's another story.
I just do it the old fashioned way-go out, find a trail & put up my stand & hope for the best. Well, not quite that simple but you get the idea. Sometimes I have to move my stand.
Oh, I HAVE Bowhunted Black Bears over bait & hogs by a feeder in Tx. & Ok..

Illegal in VA too -- new last year, it's illegal for ANYONE to feed deer from September through February (maybe October - January) -- doesn't include agricultural crops.

Some places I bait, some I don't. I haven't seen where it's easier over bait. Usually drives them nocturnal earlier and they eat it all at night.
JMO.

The places I do bait is for the kids in hopes they'll have better chances of seeing more deer. So far this hasn't worked and my best spot is during the hot weather down by the creek without bait. They go to water at all different times throughout the day.

I very rarely bait deer. I can't hear in my homestate. Illegal.

Even though it is legal where I hunt, I don't bait.

We can use food scents as lures here, which I do, but you can't leave food down where the game can get to it or it's a violation.

Baiting is legal here in Arkansas, however I think I'm the only one that doesn't hunt over bait. Thats OK, usually small bucks and does killed over bait here. More big bucks left for me to go after.:)

I don't, unless you count hunting near white oaks baiting. baiting is illegal here in VA, but I wouldn't do it anyway. Just me.

I don't hunt over bait either, I just like fatting them up to shoot! (You know someone was going to post this)

They have a choice to eat it or not. I just went last weekend to fill15 55gallon drums of corn to use the next season, not to mention food plots.

It is legal in ohio.I never have.I prefer to hunt them on natural food sources.

I don't. I find it more exciting to pattern deer and hunt their natural movement rather than sit over bait.

I think old Uncle Ted said it best that anytime you hunt near a scrape or a known path or near any food supplys or water supplies its baiting. If you didnt hunt near this stuff youd probably have about as much chance of snagging some game putting your tree stand up in the front yard. So i sayuse the bait its all about the hunt and conservation of over populated game anyway. If you havent ever tried Acorn Rage and Cmere deer and they allow baiting where you live you are missing out trust me.

no bait. nothing will make you feel like a dirty whore quicker. but most of your older buck will not be killed during shooting hours over bait anyways.

We feed the deer cow protein pellets and rice bran, but don't hunt over it. It is more for the health
of the herd and keeping them on our property and establishing some patterns. Now, I do sometimes
hunt over food plots, but whether that is baiting or not has been
beat to death on other threads.
