Who needs a contract, when you got a free hat, or a signature line to work with??? Like.. Duh.
The contract is what differentiates between being a "supporter" and "pro staff." A person can support, and even advertise a product, w/out being a staff member. There are several different staff positions.....Pro staff, shooting staff and hunting staff are the 3 I can think of. The contract is what "allows" someone to declare themselves a staff member of a certain company.

I think a paycheck would indicate if someone was a staff member of a certain company!:D

Zdeerslayer, don't sign anything until you have an agent/manager!! I'll make sure you have enough $$$$$$$$,000,000 on the end of that check.... for a mere 15% of your total earnings! Your about to become a star!;):D
Your in... But I'll need a website, my own clothing line, my own camo brand, my own bow company, my own show/video, and my very own minions, which will take care of any of the competition [8D].

The best I can do is get you a signature line with the prostaff title and a production company title!?? How about Zdeerslayerprostaffproductions.com???? So what do ya think! The .com part is the key!;)

River Valley Game Calls

Called these two in for this husband and wife team.

Killed on video for RVGC VOL IV of the Headhunters series.

Also killed and featured on the Headhunters series vol IV

Another happy "client".

I get to take one for myself:

Called this one in for a television show, shown here is the host:

Another one for myelf...every now and again I'm not calling for someone else. ;)

Well anyway, I could clutter up the page with turkeys and clients but I think you get the picture. [8D] ;)

Time away from family either traveling for the company or hunts either in front of the camera or behind the camera.

Spending your own money to support the company either in gas, licenses, time away from work, lunches etc getting to shows, hunts, shops, vendors etc...

Earning Pro Staff points for free product, free hunts, etc...

Under Contract

Rep'n the product to shops, vendors.

There's more than putting a little signature in your posts and I sense a lot of jealousy in some of the posts I read. It's not all glory, it's much much more and those that spend time away, money and more understand the sacrifice that is made understand what it takes to be a Pro-Staffer.

Motown if you watch hunting shows most guys do not shoot any bigger deer than most here.

I give a staffer all the credit in the world. Most time they worked for it. Not all about what you shoot, I think one needs character also. They have to be "likeable".

Say what you want about TV staff guys, most draw people in because you just want to listen to them.

There is a kid in our office who is hunting first time this year. I hooked him up with some camo and safty belt. We have talk at lunch a few times, he told me yesterday the cool thing about hunting community is how no matter what level you're at, everyone will talk hunting with you.

Same with a Pro Staffer, they are hunters just like us;)

Does being a Pro Staffer mean you have to shoot biggest bucks, turkeys etcthan non Pro Staffers? Or does it mean a company wants to get guys on their team that they know handle them selvesprofessionally, are litterate, intelligent, knowlegeable about the product and about the type of hunting they are doing, and will help promote their product accordingly at some shows, on the net, etc? And yeah, I think they at least deserve some freebies at the very least.

RE: What does it take to become Prostaff

As Mobow mentioned there is a BIG difference between a shop shooter, field staffer etc etcto an actual Pro Staff position.....

Pro Staff positions aren't given out lightly in most instances, you really have to show you are worthy of the position before they give these out as you represent them directly......

Don't be confused by field staffer and pro staffer they are not one in the same.

Do any of those positions bring in benefits besides the enjoyment you get out of it, a free call or bow??? Since your pushing their product do you reap any of the profits, as in money??? Rob mentioned that he spends his own money to do this?? Do they send you on all expense paid hunts or something? I am curious as to how that works out.

I've gotten free hunts, free products of other sources that come to us as a company. At one time I was approached about investing and becoming a partner. I had/have to many iron in the fires at this time to do that. I am content on rep'n the product and being part of the team. Yes, I do spend my own money ie..via gas to local shows. Depending on travel expenses, they pic up some but not others. It's all written out in the contract.

The hunt I went on to take two KS gobblers with my bow was free to me other than the license and transportation to and from. That hunt alone was payment in full for my services to the company over all these years not to mention the other perks.

It's still a demanding position regardless and one that is not taken lightly. It's a great company, great group of hunters and great group of friends at River Valley Game Calls. It's in it's progression but coming on strong. If you wish to watch vol IV of the Head Hunter series and those two kills on film in KS plus more...watch for it on http://www.rivervalleygamecalls.com It should be due out late fall or early spring.;)

That has a lot more to do with it than anything else. Sure a company wants to see you succeed. Its to their ultimate benefit. But, if their salemen/spokesmen are so outlandishly abrasive that they turn folks off just by their attitude/ethics, that does SO MUCH more damage to a company than you could imagine. Any company is only as good as the people they have working for it, no matter how good their product may be.

It doesnt take much you just have to know the right people and in my case be a 21 year old decent looking girl to become a prostaff member for martin. I was asked by a Martin rep if I would like to become a prostaff member and I would get a free bow and apparel as long as I am willing to go to a few tournaments if they needed me too (which they havent) and promote martin bows to whoever I could. They never even saw me shoot...Truth be told Im a good shot but certainly not professional by any means!
