Can someone explain peroxide??

I think I remeber someone saying they wouldnt go in the woods to track a deer without peroxide and FOOD COLORING? I think i understand that peroxide will bubble on the blood but whats the purpose of the food coloring?

I've used peroxide before but not food coloring. Maybe they mix the peroxide and foodcoloring to give the foaming peroxide more color and make it easier to see.

The peroxide does foam like you said but in a natural whitish color. By adding a red dye it helps it stand out against the brown leaves more like a blood spot.

Thanks Eric I have never tried it but the way I am thinking if it was red wouldnt that make it really goofy on trying to determine which spots are actually blood if in fact there wasnt any blood there? Does peroxide disinigrate?? Maybe im thinking too much? I was just thinking if this is something that helps maybe it should be posted up in the RECOVERY thread??

Actually if your tracking a fresh kill the blood should still be wet and bright. As the blood dries, it gets darker and harder to see. The peroxide just helps locate the blood you can't see by making it bright again. Of course the foam will be slightly larger than the original spot of blood due to expansion. It's not foolproof but helps when you have totally lost the trail but have the last spot marked. You just spray wide strokes and hope the foaming shows up under your lights.

Its simple if you need to track a deer and your down to little spots of blood and its hard to find start spraying all the leaves with peroxide and you will find blood if its there!
