Concealing ladder stands...
just wondering if the majority of people who use ladder stands brush in the ladder or just leave it exposed and if you think it really makes a difference?

RE: Concealing ladder stands...
I would deffinantly brush it in. At least the first ten feet or so.

I leave mine in the open and have deer walk right next to the ladder. It probably does help that I try to put my ladder stands in the middle of a group of trees so the other trunks help hide the ladder.

You can buy some really cool magnetic 3D leaf strips at Bass Pro for pretty cheap. Click the link.

RE: Concealing ladder stands...
I take and cut off small cedar trees or branches and run them up each side of the ladder and attach with wire ties. I brush in the top too. It looks like a birds nest when I am done. Breaks up my outline pretty good. Also the cedar and pine boughs that I use help as a cover sent.

RE: Concealing ladder stands...
Get yourself some heavy duty zip ties or rope and affix smaller branches up the ladder to help break up the outline. Just be careful it doesn't impede climbing. Also, 10 feet up should work if you have the right cover but, last year,I felt naked when hunting from my two man ladder standwhere the platform is 13 feet off the ground and I had decent cover. So this year, I've folded down the shooting rail and put a 3d leafy skirty all the way around. It shuts out the opportunity to make real close shots. But I figure I'll get more opportunities this way.
