Stand or Sit?

How would you rather shoot? and witch way were you the last deer you took?

RE: Stand or Sit?

I almost always shoot at deer from the sitting position from a tree stand.

I do stand to shoot if the shots are on my extreme right or behind my tree.

I try to position my tree stand so that shots will be on my extreme left. That way I can shoot easier from sitting.

I've never taken a shot at a deer standing up.

i actually have never shot a deer from the seated position. i always feel more prepared to react to the deer and look for shots if i am standing.

Sitting. I'm afraid I'll get too wrapped up in the animal/shot and fall out of the tree!! ....well...I'd only fall so far, but I sure would be sore and really bruised around my legs!! No thanks! [:'(]

96% of the time I'm standing while on stand.

I prefer to stand, and that is how I shot my last deer.

Since I spot and salk all my hunts, I would be standing. Thought about getting one of those ground popup domes, then I would probably be sitting.

I've taken deer both ways but feel I have a better chance while sitting. Ican remain motionless longersitting vs. standing.

I, mostly, shoot sitting. Less movement.

Either way. Last year I got my Pa buck sitting, and my Alberta buck standing. Which ever way is best for the situation at hand.

I stand to shoot. The rail on my climber doesn't allow for me to shoot while sitting.

On my feet.I believe it enables me to move with the deer more if necessary.

RE: Stand or Sit?

standing always,I only sit for very short breaks during a all day hunt.I feel I have a better chance to adjust to the deer while standing.I still practice alot of sitting shots just in case!!

RE: Stand or Sit?

Standing, sitting you limit yourself to the shots you can take out of most tree stands.

Diesel77 08-26-2007 09:15 AM

RE: Stand or Sit?

Standing as often as possible but I have made some shots sitting.I have shot many more practice arrows standingthansitting over the last 26 years of shooting bows and in actual hunting situations. Standing offers me better positioning options as the deer are moving through woods etc and you just never know when you will be able to take that best shot. Sitting limits you in being able to shoot at a broader radius and from diffreent agles etc.

Not saying either is right or wrong, just saying how I like to shoot from my tree stands.

i sit and only stand when i feel like stretching

RE: Stand or Sit?

I shoot standing when hunting in a stand and sit when and only when im in a blind, which is rare. Sitting limits your range too much and I dont feel comfortable sitting while shooting in a stand.

breakaleg 08-26-2007 11:09 PM

RE: Stand or Sit?

I sit and shoot 95 percent of the time. Your knees don't rattle together if your shooting at a big buck when sitting.

demoIL 08-27-2007 05:35 AM

RE: Stand or Sit?

I normally stand up and shoot. I have shot one sitting down but typically I find a way to stand.
