I just bought my first bow!!!

Hey all, i'm new here but not new to hunting. I'm 17 and have been hunting every year possible since age 12. I've only been using rifle for deer and shotgun for birds but i decided to broaden my options and i shelled out $1150 (which i worked my butt off for by the way) for a new bow setup. This is what i ended up getting.

Mathews Drenalin 29"/60-70 lb. draw
Whammy Drop Away Rest
Cobra Boomslang 4 prong sight
Cyclone Release
S-Coil Stabilizer
Peep/Kisser/Sling
1 doz. Gold Tips with Blazer Fletchings
and 1 doz. 100 grain field tips.

I have not decided on which quiver/broad heads i want yet so suggestions are welcome in those areas!

Thanks in Advance,

Matt

EDIT: Have another question:

Instead of opening a new topic i guess i can ask it here haha. What type of targets does everyone like, i went and looked at some today..i was really intrigued by "The Block" but at 75 bucks i didnt want to get it and have made a mistake. Are the "bag" style targets okay? How long do they last? I'll most likley get a deer target, but not yet. I want to stick with a regular square one for right now...what do you guys use?

Hey, congrats on the setup Matt. I am also 17 and started hunting the same age as you. I love bowhunting as I am sure you will too. It sure is addicting.

As far as quiver, it depends whether you wish to shoot with ti on or off your bow. Most people prefer to shoot with it off. If that is the case then you can't beat the quickie quivers. But if you want to shoot with it on, check out trophy ridge and fuse.

For BH's you should check out the G5's, Muzzy's, and Slick Tricks. They seem to be the hot sellers for this year and are all great Broadheads. Good Luck and Good Hunting.

Thanks for the quick replies guys, i really appreciate it. I wanted to go top of the line when i was buying my setup because i knew that if i didn't i'd regret it later, the way i see it i'm set for a very long time with this bow. I'm not sure if i'd like the quiver on or off yet, i'd probably like it off...save some weight on the bow. Also, i'd like to stick to Mechanical broad heads because everyone tells me they fly more like field tips and arn't as effected by the wind (less surface area = less shift). Does that theory hold water?

If your bow is tuned properly, you should have no trouble getting one of the better fixed bladebroadheads to group with your field tips.

I hear good things about Slick Trick broadheads doing just that.

Haha, well like i said before...i worked hard for the $ and i wanted something that i'd love, and i love this bow. I know that i'll be able to use it for MANY years to come. I figured it would be smarter/cheaper to buy once instead of 3-4 times and i came to the conclusion that i was going to end up with this bow whether it was today or 3 years from now so it all kinda fell together.

Congrats on your first bow! I'd say you picked one heck of a bow to start with. The Drenalin is a very nice bow and should serve you quite well. Hard work pays off doesn't it? As far as quivers go, as others have said, it depends on whether or not you want to shoot with it on. If you don't mind spending a little more money, I don't think the new T series quivers from Mathews can be beat. They are built well and the quick release design is the best I've seen. There are many good broadhead choices out there. I have had great success with Muzzy, Thunderhead, and G5's. I am going to give the two blade Rage and the 100 gr. Slick Tricks a go this season. Whatever you choose have fun and shoot straight.
