How late do you stay in the stand?
I've hunted with a lot of guys who come out of the woods as soon as the sun is up. By 8:00 am they are drinking coffee. The same guys don't crawl in a stand until about an hour before dark. Just curious as to what some of you others do.

I usually come out about 11, then go back out around 3 until dark.

During the early bow season, I usually stay until 10 or 11. Starting pre-rut I try to stay all day.

earlier season around 10:00 . later in the season i'll bring a lunch and stay a while

Until legal hunting time is up or when visibility becomes unsafe to hunt in any longer, whichever comes first.

If I can hunt all day I get up about 4:30 AM and get into my stand well before daylight and sit til about 11:00 or 12:00 PM,go back home and eat a little,take a nap then go back out about 3:00 or 4:00 and stay until dark.
If I hunt after work I take a shower with all my scent free products,go out on the porch and dress outside with my scent-free clothes and hunt until dark. |

I stay till around 9, then spot and stalk my way back home. I will get back up in the stand around 230 or 3 and stay 30 minutes legal shooting light, just to let animals clear.

I am usually back at the camp by 9 amsharpen my knife, after cleaning my deer. No just kidding usually stay till around 11 or so in the early season. Rut long as there is activity I am in the stand. Evening from about 2 til dark.

I am in stand 1 hour before dark and until a bare minimum of 30 minutes after dark. I don't mind arriving in illegal shooting hours and leaving in illegal shooting hours because I have enough common sense not to shoot in those hours. I do understand the importance of arriving under the cover of darkness and leaving the same way.

I try to get on stand at about 30 minutes before first light and get out about 30 minutes after dark. Guess im legal eh?

I try to stay all day season is short and opportunity to hunt is hard to come by lately

Early season 1/2 to 1 hour before first light til around 10:30 back in stand by 3:30 til at least a 1/2 hour after dark
Mid season (rut) 1/2 hour to an hour before first light til 11:30 or noon back in at 1 or 1:30 til 1/2 after dark......(all day if I can) Late season 1/2 hour before light til 9:30 or 10 (depending on how cold it is) back in stand no later than 2:00 til 1/2 hour after dark. |

ou season is so long that the beggining of the season it is still pretty hot at the end of september so I am usually out in the morning by 930 10 and will return at about 6:30 7pm until about the middle of october and then I will try to stay in stand as long as my wife will not get mad about!!!

I used to climb down when I couldn't see the forrest floor 10 yards out anymore. Spooked a few deer that way. Now I wait maybe a half hour after dark and if I don't hear anything. I'll get down. At least a half dozen times, I've been stuck in the tree an extra hour or longer because of deer getting underneath me right at dark with no ETHICAL shot. Either had to wait them out, or spook them. One night I'd climbed down at dark, heard something behind me which I feared might be my favorite bear, only to see a ten point staring into myheadlamp. Game over[:@]

i usually stay till about 1030 in the morning i would like to stay longer but it gets hard for me to sit there after 1030

Early season I'll hunt until around 11am. During the pre-rut and rut, I walk in when it's dark, and I leave when it's dark.

In the mornings I'm there until 9:30 - 10:00 am.

I would have to say Mid Morning depends on the action. I chose mornings more then evening hunts except during the rut. Reasoning is bucks are just like anyone else and sometimes run late getting back to bed. As for afternoons they will hang up until dark. Mature bucks I am speaking of mostly.

Mornings, at least a full half hour before light and I stay as long as I can. Sometimes it 10:00 am, sometimes it's noon. Many times I see deer first light through 8:00 am and then again around 10:30.
Evenings, if it's a work day, I get off work at 4:30 and I'm as descented as possible and in a tree calming down by 5:00 til well after dark depending on deer traffic. If it's a day off work, I'm in a tree by 2:30-3:00. There have been many, many days I stayed in a tree from dark to dark never seeing deer around the midday. My deer are not pressured during archery and even during the prerut search period, never saw deer noon to 2:00. |

Rob, I think you touched on a topic thats very important when it comes to how long to stay in a stand.
Those times sound about right for unpressured deer...but on public land or with heavily hunted deer here's the times I've seen the most activity from deer: Before 8am Between the hours of 10:30am and 1:30pm Also from 3:00pm until dark Alot of the deer movement will happen not from normal travel of the deer but from movement of humans through the woods going into and out of thier hunting areas. When hunting in Florida on public land these times, especially the mid-day when it's the hottest out, saw the most deermovement. People leave to go cool off(or get lunch)and they push deer in the process! Thats why I make every effort to use what other people do when hunting and it's been working so far;) |

early in the year it is hard for me if it is hot to stay past 9am, but i will stay longer if it is cool! During the rut i am in an hour before dark and im out at dark, alll day is the only way when its rockin'!!

I used to only hunt till about 10:00 and get back on at 3:00, but I've been trying to push myself
to log more hours on the stand. When the deer are moving a lot or it is around the rut I will either hunt all day or make a 2 hour midday hunt. It is amazing how many deer (maybe feeling safe due to patterning hunters) will just walk around at high noon. I stay on the stand till it is dark. Dark in the open or near water is not the same as in deep woods. |

All depends on the time of the year and varies by the weather. During the early season I get out fo the stand between 9-11am. Come late OCT and NOV Im out all day if the weather cooperates. And during the late season I typically only hunt evenings.

Morning, about 40 min befor daylight till 10 or 11:00,Evening, 2;00 till dark, unless I know ones going through in between that time.

I cant speak for everywhere but based on these times here in Wi just stay on stand all day. By end of Oct 4:45 pm is about it and your only missing a couple other hours based on these times of OGW

What BHJim said "illegal hunting hours till illegal hunting hours." I don't like making noise and scent tracks to/from my stand. Also get to see some beautiful wildlife during the day.

I usually stay up until right after it gets too dark to shoot. Unless there are obvious deer in the are and then I might wait a little longer. I need a flashlight walking out.

I usually stay in stand until about 10 in early season. I come out until around 230 and I sit until dark. That is unless its around rut....then its an all day occasion
