One eye or both eyes?

I've recently just started shooting with both eyes open and it seems to be working a lot better for me. Just wondering how many use both eyes.

training myself to shoot both. for some reason, i shoot much better with both open. the arrow seems to go exzactly where im looking. for some reason, the release feels like more of a surprise too..i know i dont use back tension...but with 1 eye id focus on the release...with 2 i seem to watch my spot and wait for my arrow to get there...i shoot much better..

With bow, rifle, shotgun and pistol you are really supposed to shoot with both open and let your dominate eye look through the sights, it gives you better peripheral vision and better depth perception.

Both, it really helps when the light starts to get a bit low and you are trying to use the peep site. Remember, one thing about being up in a tree. The ground below you gets darker faster... When you are up in a tree you have to look down through the canopy with is already creating shadows. I make it a point to practice low light shooting every year.

Jester,
Just this week I started practicing with both eyes open and was amazed at the difference. You're dead on about making it easier to shoot in low light. I was shooting last night just before dark and it made a huge difference.
The biggest benefit for me personally is that it seems to make it so much easier to settle the pin.

I have noticed that also. It does seem easier to settle the pin.

I'd say I use one and a half. lol I squint my left eye and look through my peep and at my sights through my other eye. In my head the picture basically looks to me like the whole deer, even outside my sights, but the only clear to see spot on the deer is where my sights are, but I see a hazy outline of the deer around it. If that makes any sense...

I tried both eyes open and i can shoot it good at 10 and 20 yards but not 30. Its tough though...it doesnt seem like you need a peep for it.

then it would probably work best for you shooting right eye open and left closed.

stay with it and give it an honest chance. i recently switched not too long ago. i love it much better than shooting only one eye open. it seems i can hold steadier and i group very good all the way out to 50 yards. your dominant eye should look through the peep while your other eye focuses on the target. personally i really never look directly at my pins, i line my peep up and stare at the target. i can just see a blurred vision of my pins on the target.

i am not neccessarily saying this is the only way to shoot both eyes open, but this is what works best for me. i also like the added field of view along with being able to see exactly where my arrow is hitting.

Good Luck,
Nick

I shoot with my left eye closed.I have attempted to shoot with both eyes open with the target being lessthan 3 yards away and I consistently hit 4 to 5 inches to the left.I may be left eye dominant,I don't know.
